Glacier National Park, Montana
Whether it’s wolves howling in the mountains or water lapping at the snowy lakeshores,
Glacier National Park is a sensory experience, especially in the quiet of winter. It’s not difficult to find seclusion for things like hiking, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, or other cold-weather adventures. Winter lodging isn’t available inside the park, but there’s backcountry camping, along with several inns and motels outside the park’s boundaries. Just note that most of the roads are closed in the winter, so it is hiking and backpacking only—check with the
National Park Service for up-to-date information.
