Rated 3 out of 5 by from Very long torso I am 6'2" and while this jacket fits in the arms, the torso is really, really long. I realize it's a tall size, but after two wearings, I just don't like how far it goes down my waist. Should have bought regular size. So, if you're in between sizes, go for the regular.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very nice lightweight jacket The fit is right on as I wear tall sizes. It is lightweight and seems to be a good quality.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disapointed in Ascender Soft Shell for the 1st time in years I have enjoyed Columbia jackets for over a decade and been impressed by their quality. I am saddened that I must warn fellow consumers about the shockingly poor quality of the Columbia Men’s Ascender™ Softshell Jacket. The 2017 version has an inferior main zipper that pulls apart at the slightest pressure. I am stunned that the designers of the 2017 version of the softshell jacket wouldn't see this if they tested this. I am returning the two softshell jackets I just bought. I can understand looking for ways to reduce cost of production, but this should not be done at the expense of quality. Columbia:please bring back the 2015 zipper design for your future versions of your softshell jackets even if the jacket costs more!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice Jacket The jacket is very nice and fits well. The velcro cuff's will take a little to get used to, but it's a nice jacket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Mid-South Jacket I live in the middle of the U.S., in the Ohio River Valley. As such we routinely get "4 seasons" of weather. This is the perfect jacket for my climate. It is an easy 2.5-3 season jacket. Warm enough, even in the coldest winter months, for a quick trip in/out of car or short exposure periods. Still not so stifling that you can't wear it in the "warmer" early fall / late spring. The fabric, though not "waterproof" provides ample water repellance for quick dash in/out of outdoors during rain. Its "dressy" enough to wear to work or out about town without looking typer technical. But it is hearty enough to wear on hikes/bikes of a reasonable distance. Simply perfect modern jacket for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Recommended Received this jacket today and tried it on immediately. Fits perfectly. I live in MT and was looking for something to keep me warm and protected, but not too hot. I would definitely recommend this jacket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value Noticed a friend wearing this jacket. It had great lines and fit perfectly. So, I purchased one as a gift for a family member. He's a big guy and hard to fit, so I was thrilled to see the jacket was available in XL-Tall. He loved the jacket! Much to my surprise the jacket ran just a little big, but not enough to change sizes. The extra size will be helpful when accommodating sweaters, etc.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another excellent product This is the third jacket i have owned like this. I have used them during michigan winters, fishing and hunting in wisconsin and Pennsylvania. I have alway been i pressed with the warmth and quality of the jackets. I ordered this jacket after a warranty claim on one of my older jacks and i could not be more impressed with the customer service and the new jacket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great jacket-well worth the $$ This is my second ascender jacket. My first one is still inservice and holding up well for being worn almost daily for 3 years! I am 6'4" and 290lbs. This jacket fits perfect. The jacket is warm, comfortable and perfect for all 4 seasons!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Jacket I always loved Columbia pructs, the tall size fits me very wrll . I am 6'8" (This review was collected as part of a promotion.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gift for my Husband I bought this jacket for my Husband and he loves this jacket. I bought the men's tall since he is over 5'10" and likes the room he has in the arms. It's a great jacket for rain and cooler days. It washes well and has become one of his favorite jackets.
Date published: 2017-02-13
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Short Arms I liked everything about this jacket, but the arms are too short. Sadly, it's going back and I can only recommend if extended size is not needed.
Date published: 2017-01-06
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great fit and function I bought size LT and it fits perfectly. Not bulky anywhere and I finally found a size L jacket with long enough sleeves for my arms! I'm 6'4 around 205lbs. Great jacket for fall/spring and beads off light rain. Sharp looking jacket also. I wore a hoody underneath for winter conditions and it still worked out nicely.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Tall fit I am a trim 6'7" and it's hard to get a decent fit in tall clothes, if there is any selection at all. This one almost works but the sleeves are just short and I HATE ordering an xl just to get sleeves that fit better because then the body is blousey. Otherwise The coat quality is great and looks good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 5 Star Jacket! I have always loved the Columbia brand, thank you for the tall sizes, as I am 6'4 I needed something longer. This jacket goes great with khakis, blue jeans, and even sweatpants. Great for staying warm and keeping out the cold wind!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice looking coat Fits true to size, the style is sharp, and so far the fall weather it has worked just fine, looking forward to seeing how it functions in the winter.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not like the online description I ordered a light-weight windbreaker-type jacket for my husband's birthday. When I checked online I specifically skipped those with fleece lining. However, when the jacket arrived, I discovered it had fleece lining--even on the collar! No where was this mentioned online. Therefore, I mailed the jacket back AND had to pay $11.80 (I think). The jacket fit fine, was good quality, etc., just too hot for here in the south. I didn't feel good about having to pay to mail it back when I felt like it was not described correctly online.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Ascender 4XLT I was given an Ascender as a gift and the zipper broke right away. This was a 4XL and was snug. I ordered the 4XLT as a replacement and it fits much better and I feel better wearing it. I wanted Black but had to settle for the dark navy which is fine. Columbia treated me right on this but it took a bout 18 moths to get everything straightened out. Not all there fault I did not pursue the warranty either. Very happy now and I hope the zipper is better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from ASCENDER #1 Without a doubt the best jacket ever. Excellent quality and very durable. Comfortable and true to size. I have purchased two different colors and will purchase the other colors they have available. I wear this jacket all the time. Columbia thank you for the quality and style of my favorite jacket. A+++++

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Durable Jacket The last time I purchased this jacket was two years ago in September. I have to say I wear this jacket every work day. It's the perfect soft shell jacket for everyday wear.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very pleased Ordered this for my husband in 4X tall and fits well. Good quality and perfect for general wear during the winter. Looks nice for both casual and dressy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Jacket I bought this jacket in the XLT size and was extremely satisfied! The length in the sleeves and body of the jacket is excellent. It fits much better that a regular XL size jacket, since it is offered in a Tall Size. I hope Columbia continues to make their products in Tall Sizes. I highly recommend this jacket!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Perfect Jacket I purchased my first Ascender soft shell last year. I instantly realized it was the best jacket purchase I ever made. So comfortable. Through three of the four seasons, I wore it. CONSTANTLY. I am a 6'4" and 280 lb male who loathes being cold ( yes I know that sounds abnormal). The XXL TALL fits me absolutely perfect. The first purchase recently served me beyond well in a record blizzard ( three weeks ago). Add that I did wear a lightweight vest as a layer. No wind chill and dry as could be. So all that being said I decided to buy another Ascender. The first was hooded so I thought I would buy one without. I just received my second jacket. I was hoping that when I tried it on it would be just as perfect. Well, it is. Thank you Columbia for inventing and making my perfect jacket. Please keep this one around and please do not change the sizing/ construction.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is a good midweight jacket The jacket seems to be excellent in every way. Comfortable, warm, windproof, and quiet.
Date published: 2016-02-09
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Jacket overall The jacket was as shown online, and is working out ok. It was intended to be used for casual wear, and also for golf on cool days. However, the shape of the jacket is kind of loose on the bottom, and it might not work out for a swing. The cuffs do close with velcro, so that is good, eliminating too-long sleeves.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Confort and versatility for a tall man I'm 6'4" and have 37.5" arms with a 45" chest. Buying any coat or long-sleeve shirt that fits is difficult, if not impossible. I purchased the Ascender in Mens LT, and I could not be more pleased. The fit is athletic in the chest and through the waist, but wears easily with a hoodie underneath. Range of motion is surprisingly good for a jacket, not something I was necessarily expecting. I've only had the Ascender for about a month so I could not give 5 stars for quality as only time will tell - but the materials and stitching seem to be up to snuff. Thank you Columbia for your line of tall mens clothing.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Jacket review Excellent jacket. Looks great feels great. It was just too big for the person I got it for. Honestly probably my fault, had to send it back the other day. But good coat for anyone. Just order the right size

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Jacket This Jacket is flat out awesome. Light weight while keeping you warm. This is well worth the money and is multi functional. Can be a dressy jacket or can be a casual jacket as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pretty Happy with my Purchase So, My boyfriend tried on this jacket in the store and it was a tad too small on the arm length. So I ordered a size XL Tall. and it fit him perfectly! So I am happy with that.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Long Arms! I bought this for my husband as a Christmas gift. He is 6'2" with very long arms. I debated getting a 2XL, but went with the XLTALL. What a great fit. He likes how fitted it is, and that it is long enough for his arms. The jacket is warm, and cuts the wind out well. He doesn't have that odd gap between gloves and his jacket that would normally be the case. Great value and great product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great jacket I found the medium size to run small, but all the other sizes ran true. Great quality workmanship and fabric. This is my new go-to everyday jacket. I bought 35 of them and had them embroidered with company logo and American flag and gave as gifts to our foreman.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect & comfortable don't have a lot of normal jackets mainly Fire ones, found these on your web site and now I have something that is warm, comfortable, and fits my big self (6' 7" 320lbs). thank you for offering quality products for big people!!!!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Sleeves to short I like the jacket but a XLtall is not tall . I think that the sleeves are to short. The length of the sleeves on the XXLtall are perfect but the rest of the jacket is to big. But if your short this is would be a very nice jacket to have.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Ascender Jacket Size wae too big. Sleeves too long. Jacket not functional for summer wear.
Date published: 2015-05-14
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent for Tall Men This coat fits perfectly. The sleeves are long enough! and the jacket itself is long enough to go below waist to prevent the wind from getting in.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Employee Incentive Item We used this jacket as an incentive award for our construction employees that reached 2,000 days with No Lost-Time Accidents. It was very well received. We did have the jackets embroidered with our company logo and our safety logo on the sleeves.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not Too Shabby! I'm 6'9" and 340 lb with a very long torso, very long arms and broad shoulders. My build is described by many as bear like/burly. I've found 4xlt to be a bit short, but I was expecting that. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the shoulders were not tight, and that the pockets were to my liking. I purchased this jacket for extensive outdoor use in the state of New York. I'm an avid outdoorsmen, hunting, fishing, hiking and camping nearly every week despite what the weather conditions might be. I'm looking forward to testing this jacket in the coming months as I head into the mountains for an extended stay in a bushcraft camp, but as of right now, I'm rather satisfied with it thus far. I only wish the back was a bit longer to keep my back covered when I bend over.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect fit Have always used and trusted Columbia products. I have softshell jackets that have lasted a long time. Now, finally, a size that fits my hulking 6'5' 16 yr old son. The tall size XL is perfect. It's great he doesn't have to wear a too big 2XL that's too short on his torso. Arm sleeves perfect too. Very pleased. Bought 2. He loves the black and navy colors.
