Rated 5 out of 5 by jeff2019 from This product has good features I like the fit. I’m 5’7” with a 36” waist and find it hard to find a base layer with a short inseam. These pants kept me warm this past week in Park City with 5 degree temperatures. I only needed a shell over them. I would recommend them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by AronB from The Final Piece in my Columbia update These thermals are ridiculously warm. The last month in Minnesota has been a perfect test and OmniTech smashed it. I'll never get cold legs again!

Rated 5 out of 5 by ForrestM from Super warm! Honestly, I thought that perhaps the reflective thing was a gimmick. I am still not 100% sure its not, but these are warm! I couldnt believe it, compared to other thermal underwear I own these are hands down the warmest. Only drawback is that they are so warm that I did end up sweating a bit in them. So, If I was in super cold weather, that would be something I would need to watch out for.

Rated 5 out of 5 by charlieepink from Heavyweights in size Large, black These heavyweights are different from midweights, because they have the thermal looking outside as opposed to the shiny slippery outside of the midweights. Additionally, they are MUCH warmer. For reference, my boyfriend is 5'11' 210 lbs and large on top and bottom fits tightly as they should. He said they are great for outdoors as his job requires them to be outside 8+ hours a day, but said they are for the colder, windier days, as he wore them with moderate activity in 40 degree weather and said the tops were a little too warm. He did however have a vest and heavier coat on over them. If you are torn between midweight and heavyweight, I would say go heavyweight on the bottom for below 40 and go midweight and another sweater/long sleeve layer on the top for ~40 degree weather. Anything colder, I think you are safe with heavyweights on top and bottom together.

Rated 1 out of 5 by JayhawkMAH from Way too small My waist is 31"-32". Size small is supposed to fit 29"-32". I could not even get it past my hips. The Return Policy is ridiculous. They don't do an exchange. Instead, they charge you $6.00 to ship it back to them and re-order the correct size. However, when I went back to re-order (6 days after the original order and the day I received the order), the price jumped from $47.50 to $65.00. I will not be ordering from Columbia.com ever again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by ShaversRUs from So thankful for these Shipping was fast, and this is a product that truly lives up to what it is advertised to do. My husband works outdoors as a delivery man, and he says he has never experienced a set of thermals that insulate so efficiently while feeling comfortable against his skin in his life. These thermal pants could not do a better job. We were somewhat skeptical initially, but a few days of wear in the harsh winter made believers out of us. We are extremely thankful for the functionality of these thermals.

The Columbia baselayer heavyweight 2 fits great and keeps me warm. I suggest you try them if you have to time outdoors at your job or on that 10 mile hike.

Rated 1 out of 5 by HypothermicDeathWishNOT from NOT a base layer Do not wear next to skin; the only way to keep warm for me was to wear a layer under this garment. The reflective heat didn't work to over come the wicking action. I thought I was going to die! Having chosen to wear this garment ruined my whole day; I was cold, dangerously cold, all day even with Rivers West heavy fleece water/wind proof garment over the top in 20 degree F temps. I've never had a problem like this before with these RW pants using a true thermal base layer. You'd have to be working out very hard all of the time and never stop to survive wearing this garment next to your skin.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Smittie from Core warmth This product coupled with fleece wading pant results in warmth even when fly fishing in 40 degree water. There is simply no other product I have used that is any where close to Omniheat in keeping you warm.

Good quality and omni-tech. It gets real cold here in MN during the winter months so this is a great addition to stay warm.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Peterden from Excellent thermal underwear I bought the thermal top and was so impressed by how warm it was I bought the bottoms as well. The reflective surface on the inside really keeps the heat in. They are comfortable as well. Highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Powderman from Warm and Snug fit not Bulky. Warm and snug, not bulky. I am a professional skier, a powder guide, at Powder Mountain in Utah. I spend most of my days above 8000 feet. I bought the tops and bottoms and I love the insulatI’ve properties. also they are much warmer then their thickness would suggest. It seems the reflective inside layer achieves the same or better results than adding density to the polypropylene! The reflective interior seems to do the job as they claim. If it works for me chances are it will work for you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by bab1112 from This stuff really works!!! I had bought the base layer for family members who are hunters, and bought myself a pair before attending the Music City Bowl. Weather was in the teens and 20's and I was plenty warm. Wore the heavy weight bottoms and a mid-weight top, because I also have a Turbo Down Omni Heat Jacket. Perfect layering. My husband did not wear his and was freezing! lol

Rated 4 out of 5 by HoodEast from The only base layer you need I've had many base layers in my 35 years of staying warm in the extreme cold. Most have served their purpose mostly, but have lacked in varying elements. I've finally found exactly what I need - whether it be skiing, climbing, or just being in the cold weather. The men's heavyweight base layer from Columbia provides reliable resistance to the cold, while aiding in warming you up a bit more with the omni heat interior. It's a crazy concept to wrap your head around before experiencing it, but let me tell you, it works! The base layer doesn't absorb moisture either and breathes well going out, but is very wind resistant when you are switching out layers and exposed directly to the weather. I'd highly recommend this to anyone looking for a solve all base layer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Selkie from Perfect comfort I travel extensively in Mongolia, usually during Winter. And I also travel to Arctic and the Antarctic regions. This had me running around trying all brands of base layer clothing to keep me warm. All the brands that I tried over the years were not effective, too hot, badly fitting, and poorly constructed. Frustrated for years. Last trip to Mongolia I visited a backpacking store in Ulaanbaatar. They had this product on sale. Snapped it up. For the next 3 weeks I was the most comfortable I have ever been in Winter. It never got rank considering no running water. Got back to the states and bought another one.

Rated 3 out of 5 by zorrofish from Good for some things, not others I wore these for the first time while steelhead fishing on the Clackamas River in temperatures at freezing to a bit below. They kept me from getting chilled but not warm; on the whole no better than polypro long underwear that I bought at REI many years ago. They do keep you warm if you are active but not if you are sitting still.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Sifu from Avoid Completely! These may be OK when one is active, but the thermally reflective surface gets cold against your skin when touched by the slightest breeze. I work in security, and it entails a lot of hours standing guard in the winter cold. I am a veteran and now work in government security. The first time I wore these I was shivering within 30 minutes of starting my shift, and it was in the 40's. The next day I tried them with another layer, made by Techwick, under them, and I still felt the silver dots get cold and clammy. The jackets actually work as intended, and that's what drove me to waste my money on this garbage. Please avoid my mistake and get something else if you are a soldier or security professional. Apologies to Columbia, I am sure they are nice people, I just care too much for the people I have worked with, some of whom have lost their lives protecting others. Best wishes

Rated 4 out of 5 by Rob3 from heavyweight baselayer I have been looking for a good baselayer for some time now. I have tried just about every manufacture out there. They just would not fit right, the material would not feel good or they be full of static witch I can't stand. This baselayer is the only one I found that fit true to size felt good kept me warm in 30 degree weather and kept me cool when I started sweating. I plan on buying another pair to have as a extra.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Snuks from This product has great features I received a pair as a Christmas gift. I like the feel. They where even able to find them in a tall, which is amazing. It's so nice to have something long enough, even if they did have to go to the men's department for it. I was looking forward to the warmth of long johns from my youth, and I just didn't get that.
