Rated 5 out of 5 by Tony2018 from Amazing Warm Jacket The jacket fits true to size (XL) I am very impressed with the workmanship and features of the jacket. I ordered the item on-line and the package arrived within a few days exceeding my expectations. Lightweight and extremely warm. (This review was collected as part of a promotion.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by Jeffery43 from Very light and warm I love this jacket, you hardly notice that your wearing it and it’s very warm. I don’t really feel like it’s 100% waterproof because of the down core section but at the end of the day it’s great looking and feeling.

Rated 5 out of 5 by ChuckyJames from Extreme weather Jacket Tried my Heatzone 1000 for few days now. Feels very warm in the 9 degrees weather. I love the feel of the jacket and how thin and light it is. The big inside pockets great for storing hats/gloves and even put my wallet their. I also order one for my wife too. Highly recommend. Very satisfied. Only drawback is the jacket could be a bit longer because my body is warm but my legs feel cold.

Rated 5 out of 5 by jbn3243 from very comfortable and warm I wear this when it gets cold, then I forget it's cold. I figured it was time for myself to get a great jacket, as it gets really cold and windy here in the winter. I knew it meant I would spend a bit more but I'm glad I did. I was so tired of freezing all the time even with jackets and layers on. Not sure what else to say, I give it a perfect rating.

Rated 3 out of 5 by BroWoYo from Things to Note Hi, I bought this jacket just recently at the outlet store, so it was a descent savings off of the $450 retail price. It's very warm for the most part but there are a couple of things worth noting that might have you looking at others in the same price range: 1. The jacket has nothing to snug the fit in the neck area, which has been a constant source of cold air coming in (I bought a medium - I'm 6'1"/205lbs). This is easily solved with a scarf or turtleneck, but for $450 you can probably find something that works out of the gate. 2. Not a great place to store your phone, so keep that in mind. They do make other styles similar in price that have this feature - worth thinking about as this one really doesn't have much other than three extremely lightweight inside pockets (only one with a zipper closure and it's stitched right into the same lightweight fabric the puffer part of the coat is made out of (plus, you can not access this pocket without unzipping the entire front of the coat - not ideal if it's 20 degrees out, a zip on the arm which would not work well if you use headphones (and does not have any sort of plastic style weather strip on each side as commonly seen in most higher priced coats. Top half of the coat has a waterproofing type material but the rest is standard puffer/down so the lower half of you will get wet in the rain - probably even if you have an umbrella. So, I'd say 3/5 stars - it's warm and I was in a bit of a hurry (literally). If I paid full price I would have taken it back. I've included a photo of two of the inside pockets which reminds me - these three pockets represented in the photo (one outside pocket you can't see, the one with the zipper and the elastic only pocket you can see the top of) are stacked on top of each other, meaning if you have a glove in the elastic topped pocket, your phone or a wallet in the interior zipped pocket and your hand in the outer pocket they'll all be stacked like a sandwich - the result is kind of bulky in that spot when using all three. And that orange material is sleeping bag type material - lightweight. The jacket does have two main front zippers (one at bottom/one at top), which is a nice feature. Runs a little large in the chest area for me, but I'm usualy wearing something pretty lightweight underneath.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Jski from Great looking jacket I really like the look of this jacket, it is very light and it also has the perfect length. I was expecting the jacket to be warmer and more functionnal, it needs a heavy mid layer and it lacks pockets, it doesn't have a breast pocket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by fabesco from Top of the line Super jacket: Hot (very hot) -20°c plus wind chill (nothing!), windproof and also water resistant (not water proof) very satisfied. Maybe the only complaint it's the hood it's a bit too big and the onmi-tech fabric could covered the entire arm on my point of view but you can't go wrong with that one simple than that. Columbia always makes good stuff and in addition you get the titanium line... The results is a first class product. Strongly recommend!

Rated 3 out of 5 by MDRiley from Warm but not durable I noticed little "nicks" in the material (soft material) after only having it 2 weeks. I am very careful with this coat so the durability is definitely lacking. If they coated the whole outside with omnitech this would be a 5 star review as the omnitech in the shoulders is more durable plus provides water resistance. If it's misting at all the soft material feels "wet" almost immediately, like it absorbs a lot of moisture out of the air. With that said inside the jacket is warm and soft. Inside 5 stars Outside 2 stars Columbias quality and durability has definitely decrease from 10 years ago, when I bought my original Jacket I had to warranty out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MattL from Perfect commuter jacket I bought this light-weight jacket to commute in the Canadian winter - and it does not disappoint. Light, comfortable and super warm! It's also great for taking the dog for a walk and outdoor fun. When you start moving a little bit, this jacket is incredible at capturing that body heat and keeping it inside the jacket. Only criticism, the one sleeve got caught on a fence and poked a little hole in the fabric. The sleeves and body material don't seem to be the most impermeable. Overall, great jacket, and to make it even more versatile- try putting a shell overtop of it or throw it under a parka. So warm!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Asicsrunner1980 from Heatzone #2 This is my second purchase of this jacket and I could not be happier. I purchased this jacket last year in hyper blue as well. I live in Kenosha, Wi and this jacket gets me through the winters with no problem. Yes, this jacket is wind proof, highly water restiatant and the jacket it self is light and comfortable. Will buy another one next season.

Rated 5 out of 5 by WadeH from WOW This Jacket is just incredible. Nothing can compare.. I cannot praise it enough. It is extremely comfortable, yet can withstand some pretty extreme temperatures -5*C is too warm for this jacket. No Jokes. At -10*C its wearable...just Where it really shines though is when the winds pick up. Completely windproof, its keeps you warm and snug in the harshest of environments. Best Jacket ever.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Chicagoan84 from Insanely warm and lightweight, with *some* functional limitations I've owned this jacket for 1.5 years now, and it gets a 5/5 from me because it is both the warmest and lightest winter jacket I've ever owned. It's warm enough that I've been comfortable walking outside in -20F degree weather wearing just a short-sleeve t-shirt underneath (I've done this multiple times), and it's lightweight enough that I don't think twice about putting it on for just a quick walk down to the corner store...in fact, it's lighter than my everyday softshell jacket that I wear when it's 30-40F degrees! Now, there are limitations, which I'll run through quickly: there's no inner or outer chest pocket; while the arms, hood, and upper chest & back are waterPROOF, the body of the jacket below chest level is merely water-RESISTANT, and I'm not sure how it would hold up in a driving blizzard; there are no pit zippers or ventilation to speak of, and this jacket doesn't breathe at all; because of the aforementioned lack of full-waterproofing and ventilation/breathability, I'd never recommend wearing this jacket for skiing or strenuous physical outdoor activities. I think the strengths far outweigh the drawbacks in practice, so much so that I have no hesitation in rating this 5/5, but I feel Columbia could make some small tweaks to make this jacket even better in future versions

Rated 1 out of 5 by RandyCampbell from Not For Outdoor Use Pictures of this coat for skiing should be removed. Mine ripped but I'm not even sure what ripped it! I brushed against something and down was flying everywhere. I've had many, many Columbia coats with no problems. This coat was designed for going from the car to the shopping center. On the positive side, the coat is extremely warm and very, very light. Since it isn't durable, this means nothing. If you want it for looks, it's great!

Rated 4 out of 5 by SirJames from Lightweight and warm Overall, happy that I purchased this jacket. Really appreciate the lighter weight while retaining warmth. 2 things I'd like improved, zipper alignment when starting the zipper takes retrying at times, second, when the jacket is unzipped, the upper part of the jacket is stiff and doesn't form to my body (collars stick out...)

Rated 4 out of 5 by Jacoblh from Warm and waterproof I recently purchased this coat to replace my winter coat that I've worn for the past 4 years. The coat itself is very light which I like. It feels as if you are just wearing a thin under layer, but delivers on warmth with the turbo down feature. The only drawbacks on this coat for me were the sizing: It runs a bit larger than I was anticipating, so if you're on the fence with ordering this jacket between two sizes, go smaller! And the zipper on my coat is a little tough to zip up. I just received this coat so I'm sure it will break in eventually. But overall this coat is awesome!

Rated 2 out of 5 by SamNJ from Would it really kill Columbia to put a working zipper on this jacket? A potentially great jacket ruined by a bad non-working zipper. I already sent a jacket for warranty hoping they "fix" the zipper rather me getting one brand new that won't have a working zipper. They refunded me the money instead so I got a new one but still non-working zipper. It is not that the zipper doesn't work, but it is extremely difficult to zip up the jacket. It shouldn't be that way for a jacket that go for $450 retail and $300 on sale. Greatly disappointed.

Rated 3 out of 5 by outers55 from Good jacket, but not windproof This jacket is light and warm, but fails to keep out the wind. Despite claims in the product description that this coat is seam sealed, I can feel cold air blowing straight through the seams, especially on the one sleeve, on cold windy days. In fact, I'm really surprised just how much air is getting through since the seams look okay. I also tested to see if I could blow air through after noticing this and can blow warm air through using my mouth and feel it on my arm. I haven't used it in the rain yet, but I would imagine that water will find its way in as well through the same areas. Definitely not what I expect from Columbia's flagship award winning jacket. I will update this review if I have any new information as I've only been using it a week.

Rated 5 out of 5 by RoadBlock from Hands Down THE Best Coat Ever! This coat is the last winter coat I will ever buy. The coat has everything you need to stay warm and dry while working up a sweat or standing still for hours at a time in freezing temperatures here in New York. The coat runs slightly larger around the midsection than my previous omniheat coats but wasn't a problem. The coat does well in being windproof during gusty snowstorms. Previous reviews mentioned the zippers feeling cheap, however I have to disagree with them. The zippers are sturdy and I don't see a problem with them any time in the future. Again, this is the last winter coat you will ever need for any winter activities.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Coppertonemalone from Parka Style First thing I noticed was the warmth and size of this jacket. It is very warm for its weight and the omni heat reflective material does work. The size however is much more parka in fit than I expected which rediced the primary function. I am 6', 42 chest, 32" waist, slim athletic build. I always wear L. Some more loose than others. This L was very roomy. Not too big per se but probably. Think big ski coat or parka. I could not try on a Med for comparrison. The large fit may work if you plan on having thicker layers underneath, like tech jacket, but then you would be a baloon. The roominess lead to air draft through the torso as well. It's a long coat that goes past the butt so the waist sinch does not really work well. The torso is very box shaped with no tapering so I am spruced they are calling this a technical fit. I tried stuffing it into the pocket as advertised and could only get about 90% into it. That was very tight and afraid it would rip the pocket. There is quite a bit of synthetic insulation in it so it does not pack up super small. About size of a pro football. The hood does not fit very well. It's enormous. When I tighten it up it flares out and does not trap heat around the head. The zipper consistently stuck. Very difficult to get started, every time. I would only recomend this coat as a belay parka or backcountry ski outer layer. Otherwise the style and fit reduces adaptability to other uses. Probably size down.

Rated 5 out of 5 by mike121 from Mens Heatzone 1000 This coat is an excellent product by Columbia. The warmth start as soon as the coat is put on. I would suggest to go to a store a try on something similar for a fit then order your coat online. I also suggest the red, blue, and white jacket for style and assure not many will have this same jacket in your home town. You will be one of a kind.

Rated 5 out of 5 by KoLeS from koles2 So I'm writing a 2nd review because my first one I was so excited in how much I loved the look and make of the jacket but had not worn it yet. This jacket's colors first off are AMAZING!! My other review is under Koles if you want to read more about it. Now that I have worn the jacket multiple times, I LOVE IT in regards to keeping me warm. I love the length, I had been wearing an old jacket here around home that I was freezing in so figured I'd break out the new one and in a few minutes I was warm and I no longer was shaking or having my teeth chatter! I highly recommend this coat to anyone and everyone, and if you are a color fanatic, the white and blue you cannot go wrong with....it just pops! I've been kept super warm, pockets are great to keep your hands warm and are insulated as well. Here in Pittsburgh we've recently varied from the low negatives with wind chill to mid 20's and I've been warm in my new coat!! The only complaint I have is that the zippers are tiny and seem junky...lots of my other other coats I had or do still have have nice thick sturdy zippers - The NorthFace coat I have, Abercrombie, etc. they have way better zippers. I am a bit concerned about that because these zippers are thin and not the best make, but praying they always hold up. For a $450.00 jacket (whether you get it on sale or not) should be made a bit better with a main part of a jacket, but other than that the jacket is perfect!! If you are thinking of buying it, you will not go wrong if you do.

Rated 5 out of 5 by AZ2MN from Excellent Jacket An excellent product!! A little backstory....I am relocating to Duluth Minnesota from Phoenix, AZ. Originally from SE Wisconsin, I have been out in AZ for the past 11 years. Getting ready for the winter again and thinking back to how I remember winters in Milwaukee, I knew I had better get the best coat possible. A little fearful, yes...In the past I had been a loyal North Face customer, but after looking at some of the newer North Face product, I felt their QC has slipped some. Being so, I decided to stroll into a Columbia store. Plainly told the salesman I wanted the warmest coat they sold!! Without batting an eye, He showed me the Turbodown 1000. Initially blown away by how light the coat was, I was totally skeptical..I was expecting to buy a conventional old school heavy parka type jacket. Well, after paying the high price I couldn't be more satisfied. Buy once, cry once I always say. I have been wearing this jacket around the Duluth area for the past week in sub zero HIGHS and double digit low temps, and couldn't be more impressed. The quality of the coat is high, very well made, and fits perfectly for me. BTW, I am 6'7" and 250# so some may find it runs a little large. All I can say, after being acclimated to the desert temps of 120F summers and "cold" winters of 40F, the winter here feels WAY better than I remember when I have this coat on. Very satisfied....and confident to brave the cold of northern Minnesota.

Rated 4 out of 5 by LeeJ from Amazingly warm jacket, seriously light too First off- this jacket is insanely warm. The insulation on this is outstanding. Especially for it's weight- it's stoopit light. The fit runs a little large as I'm overweight and it still fit me pretty well. If you're looking for a coat to keep you warm and not weight you down, this fits the bill. Unfortunately I think it's lacking some features that would make it truly outstanding and worth every penny. I don't think it has enough pockets. I wish the collar had fleece on it. And I would have like a powder skirt for skiing and keeping the cold out. Yes, these features would have added weight, but I think they would be worth it. If you're looking for something to just keep you warm, this is it. But the lack of features keeps this from being a stand alone, wear all the time garment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by yaolsnake from It works well for me I purchased this jacket to layer underneath my blaze orange hunting jacket. I wanted it to keep me warm while sitting for long hours on a deer stand in Wisconsin in cold November weather (18-27 degrees). It did what I wanted and is the first jacket that I have ever had that performed so well. I have hunted for 50+ years so that is saying something. If I have any concern I think that Columbia could put a more easily functioning zipper on this product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by dianneordi from Warm jacket, great value Haven't had the chance to use this under extreme conditions, but my first impression is that it's a nice WARM jacket for cold winter days. At this point, my only complaint is that the neck area is very loose, and there's no way to tighten it around your throat. I'll probably have to wear a scarf underneath to keep my neck warm and keep the cold air out.
