Men’s Voodoo Falls 590 TurboDown™ Jacket is rated out of 5 by 106.
Rated 2 out of 5 by Kyle78 from Not Good Quality It lasted about a month before the trim at the end of one sleeve started to come undone. It's a simple enough fix so I've decided to fix it myself with a needle and thread. I'm not about to pay $10+ to ship it back to Columbia for a warranty repair. Seriously, what good is a warranty if you're going to make your customers pay for the shipping to fix an issue that shouldn't have existed to begin with? Either stand behind your product or don't. Aside from the sleeve issue, the material is not dense enough to contain the down and it's constantly shedding. All down outerwear sheds, but I have an older 650TD vest that's made from thicker material and it sheds about 1/10th the amount of down that this jacket does. Every time I wear this jacket, my clothes end up covered in little bits of down. As I said, my Turbodown vest doesn't have this problem to nearly the same extent, so I'm not sure why they used an inferior material in this jacket. This jacket isn't as warm as I expected, although it's still decent. About as warm as a thick fleece, but it weighs less, so I guess that's a plus. However, it doesn't breath well at all. I shoveled snow with this on and it soaked through with sweat after 45 minutes. It doesn't seem to have any moisture wicking ability whatsoever. My fleece jacket, which costs 1/4 as much, doesn't have that problem. It's a good, light weight insulating layer as long as you're not active and don't care about your clothing getting covered in down. In summary, I'll fix the defect myself and keep it as a low activity insulating layer until it looses all of its down and I throw it away. I don't recommend this to active users due to its inability to wick moisture. I don't recommend this to anyone else due to its quality issues.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Ann27 from Great lightweight jacket but very warm! Best winter coat I’ve purchased. Soft and lightweight but deceivingly warm. Not at all cumbersome so comfy in car, walking around, etc.

Rated 4 out of 5 by MKLight from Great, warm jacket I’ve had this jacket for about a month. It’s a great jacket. I’m usually in between sizes, and I would need a Medium Tall. The Medium would fit, but would be a bit short. The large has a good length, but is a little too large in the belly area and creates a more classic fit. Besides that, the jacket is very light and comfortable. In our current polar vortex, the jacket has worked like a dream with its water resistance, Turbo Down, and Omniheat. The only thing I would like would be a pocket for gloves. I really like this jacket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Robin67 from Lightweight warmth During cold spell I’ve put it to the test. Warm enough and lightweight enough to be active. I will be traveling to Europe and it will be easy to pack too. The color is great, and the fit is perfect. I tried a large first, but should have gone with my true size.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Shacker from Just what I needed. Just a couple things... Light, wind and water resistant, and incredibly warm. I'm 5'10" and 215, athletic, a large fits perfectly and doesn't hang weirdly or bunch in any areas. The collar is just right. Overall really good quality, comfort, and function for your dollar. Just a couple notes: -The quality would be a 5 but I've had a few threads that required clipping and one that could pose an unravel problem later. -Note sure if typical of down products, but this jacket has leaked (not quite sure how else to describe it) out a few feathers. And when I wear a short sleeved shirt, I occasionally feel the sharp quills irritate my skin. ***Totally admit I may be ignorant on down products and this could be expected.

Rated 5 out of 5 by ColoMatt from Great down jacket! I've found this jacket to be quite warm and very comfortable. Prior to buying this one I usually used a softshell jacket along with a light inner jacket, but this one is warmer than both of those combined! The smooth finish on the inside also glides on easily over other clothing. Additionally, the pockets are what I wanted; fleece on the inside of the side pockets and it even has a phone/security pocket on the chest. One criticism I have is that the zippers on the side pockets seem to get caught on the fabric more often than other jackets I've tried on, but it's never become really jammed. It also ran slightly large in my opinion. I picked up a small and it feels halfway toward a medium in most other brands I've tried.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Kahnskis from Light weight and warm mid/outer layer Perfect Midlayer for cold outdoor activities or warm light weight coat on a chilly day. One hang up with these coats I have had in the past is the material getting caught on the zipper with the pockets. Once this is corrected. Perfect coat.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Student6793 from Not warm at all At 25F and lower this jacket is useless, I felt colder than in my 30 dollars nylon jacket from Walmart! The turbodown is all over my sweater, and it is not easy to remove it. Whoever wrote about how good it is for Chicago winters is most probably has never walked on the streets in January for more than 5 min. It is a light jacket but that’s all about it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Berries from Dad’s Christmas Present My brother and I purchased this jacket for my dad since he had been wanting an insulated jacket. We went with this one because we loved the color and wanted it to be a warm jacket. He bike rides in the mornings and he had stopped because it was cold, now he can bike ride with his jacket! We originally purchased a L but it was too big for him and returned it for a M because he wanted it more snug. He is very happy with it and is wearing it often. I would definitely recommend this jacket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Phound from Warm mid jacket I bought this after I lost my inner liner for a 3 in 1 jacket. It is definitely warm with the down and the omni heat. I have been outside in -5 degree temps and have been comfortable. Add the shell on top and it works well for much cooler temps. It does shed feathers every once in a while however like most down jackets. (This review was collected as part of a promotion.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by erbfarg from Great jacket When I first got this jacket, I thought "Oh man, this thing is way too light to wear in winter!" I was wrong. I walk my dog every morning, sometimes before sunrise, and it's been pretty chilly here in Colorado the last month. This jacket has performed excellently! This morning at 16 degrees I walked my dog and had nothing under the jacket but a tee shirt and was perfectly comfortable. The only con I've noticed so far is that I've had a couple small down feathers come out through the fabric.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Todd12 from 3 out 3 jackets disappointment I have several Columbia product and have been very pleased. The 590 jackets are a resl disappointment. The family and I wore them on vacation and were horrified when we went in a restraint to eat and had feathers all over our cloths. It was so bad we had to step back outside and try to brush some of them off our cloths, not all of them came off even after washing. We had to fight and watch for feathers floating into our meals. These jacket are very very poorly made. They do not hold up to the normal Columbia standard such as other products.

Rated 5 out of 5 by ocjohnny from happy camper The jacket exceeded my expectations. It is lightweight, fits perfectly, keeps me warm. In a nutshell it does its job. Columbia's sizing has always been spot on and I have never had to return anything due to sizing, fact is I have never returned anything I have purchased from Columbia. The form, fit, and function of the product(s) is always suberb.

Rated 3 out of 5 by TheGrandTour35 from Warm and looks great, but quality is average. Initially I bought the “Lake 22” down jacket, but I purchased the wrong size and had to send it back. Instead of re-purchasing the same jacket I chose to spend a little bit more money and get the “Voodoo Falls” coat. The coat looks good, and it fits true to size. It’s comfortable and the pockets have fleece in them. It also blocks the wind very well. The only negative thing I can say is that the overal quality is merely average. I’ve only worn it twice and little feathers keep sneaking out. It’s also fairly easy to leave scratch marks on it. If you’re walking down the sidewalk and accidentally rub up against a bush you’ll probably get a scratch mark or two on the jacket. It’s a good jacket, but not great. A little too expensive considering its merely average build quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by kim463 from Columbia is my look! Columbia is my ultimate "go to" for all things to wear. This jacket can be dressed up or down. It fits perfect: It's light enough to wear indoors but, with the omni-heat, keeps me warm outside. I wear nothing else but Columbia!

Rated 5 out of 5 by SilverBug from Light weight warmth I looked at a number of jackets before purchasing the Voodoo Falls 590. For travel I needed warmth in a light weight jacket. Pound for pound I found this jacket to be ideal. I love the inner pocket for security and found the zippers to be of very high quality compared to zippers that I have encountered in other brands.

Rated 5 out of 5 by KRATIKA from Good call I bought this jacket for my husband after giving it a try myself. It’s not like we haven’t come across a good jacket for our winters in New York but he was keen on having something which gives good warmth , low on bulk and most importantly good price . Given that this jacket was not bulky at all and the down fill with omniheat layer provided great warmth, it came at a very good price. I’m am really impressed with the quality of product and wonder why I didn’t think of buying it for past two seasons. I like the fact that because it’s not bulky you can wear it while driving and you don’t feel trapped and suffocated. At the same time you can wear it outside without having the need to take it out when you are moving from outdoors to indoors which we tend to do with most warm jackets.

Rated 5 out of 5 by b33ford from For those 'in between" months :) Okay, I think I've finally had this coat long enough to write a competent review on it. I initially ordered the large and found myself to be swimming in it. I returned it (which was a very quick a painless process) and ordered the medium instead. The medium fit me great (I'm 5'10" and 200lbs), with just enough space to comfortably fit my merino wool hoodie. It did well in the Jan/Feb months of SW Idaho, and I've been wearing it since it started to be cool again in Oct/Nov. It does a decent job of blocking a majority of the wind and you can really feel the warmth start to build with the Omni-Heat lining. YES: it sheds small bits of down, that's the nature of the beast folks. However, I never felt like it was excessive and it didn't cover my hoodie with 'tons' of down bits. This coat is NOT water proof, and I knew that. I've been very careful to keep it as dry as possible cuz I don't want to risk getting the down wet (hence my recent purchase of the MEN'S WILD CARD™ INTERCHANGE JACKET for colder/wetter times). All in all, this is a fine coat. I believe that if you're thinking about it, DO IT! But maybe wait till it goes on sale ;)

Rated 5 out of 5 by NLCS from Voodoo jacket I bought the Voodoo 590 turbo down jacket as a present for my husband. The XL was baggy so we returned it for a large which fits fine. He likes the red color, warmth, and wind/water resistance of the jacket. His only concern is about the strength of the zippier. Time will tell as to its durability.

Rated 5 out of 5 by BobbaLouie from Versitile Cold Weather Garment Bought this to wear under my shell to keep my core warm on the coldest winter days. Works perfect for that purpose with a pleasant surprise that it helped keep my hands warm. As spring is now here, I've started using it as my outer layer. I'll be packing this for all of my Fall through Spring trips because it is so versatile. Was hesitant to buy after reading reviews about the down coming out. Opened the box, took out the jacket and ONE down feather wafted to the ground. HOWEVER, hasn't lost any since.

Rated 4 out of 5 by BubbaGump from Leaked on both sides (seems) on the arm/shoulder area more right side I have Almost this exact same jacket I brought in December of 2017, I been using it up north in the Illinois Indiana area for the last 2 months.. it does keep me warm 100% and is wind proof in weather between 5* - 50* with a light sweeter on during the colder days and t-shirt on during the 30’s 40’s temps it does keep you dry in light to medium rain But the other day there was a bad storm that came through mid Illinois brining heavy rain will it’s not heavy rain proof my right side of my shoulder started to feel wet right at the seems, when I took off my jacket my right shoulder had a big wet spot in it and two small wet spots on the left side I was disappointed thinking it could hold up. I know it’s not a rain jacket but still when the jacket say waterproof wind proof cold proof I expect for it to keep with up Mother Nature. I was disappointed but now trying to figure out if I should make a claim for the warranty or just get a bomber rain jacket.? I found nothing wrong with the stitching or found no holes but for a $100 jacket I expect no leaks
