Men’s Heavyweight II Stretch Baselayer Long Sleeve Shirt is rated out of 5 by 48.
Rated 5 out of 5 by ForrestM from Very warm! Honestly, I thought that perhaps the reflective thing was a gimmick. I am still not 100% sure its not, but these are warm! I couldnt believe it, compared to other thermal underwear I own these are hands down the warmest. Only drawback is that they are so warm that I did end up sweating a bit in them. So, If I was in super cold weather, that would be something I would need to watch out for.

Rated 5 out of 5 by charlieepink from Heavyweights, Large in Black These heavyweights are different from midweights, because they have the thermal looking outside as opposed to the shiny slippery outside of the midweights. Additionally, they are MUCH warmer. For reference, my boyfriend is 5'11' 210 lbs and large on top and bottom fits tightly as they should. He said they are great for outdoors as his job requires them to be outside 8+ hours a day, but said they are for the colder, windier days, as he wore them with moderate activity in 40 degree weather and said the tops were a little too warm. He did however have a vest and heavier coat on over them. If you are torn between midweight and heavyweight, I would say go heavyweight on the bottom for below 40 and go midweight and another sweater/long sleeve layer on the top for ~40 degree weather. Anything colder, I think you are safe with heavyweights on top and bottom together.

Rated 5 out of 5 by ShaversRUs from Best. Thermals. Ever. My husband works a very physical job as a delivery man, so he was looking for something supplemental to the UA thermals he'd worn for years. After doing some research, we decided to give these Columbia thermals with the Omniheat technology a try. These thermals have completely won him over. Not only are they incredibly insulating and perform their function beautifully, they are comfortable on his skin. He says he loves the feel of them, and don't ride up or down and don't impede in his movement whatsoever. These were really put to the test this past winter season when he was out all day in frigid temps, and he came home saying he didn't really feel that cold at all. We are sold, and can't really envision purchasing any other thermals.

Rated 5 out of 5 by BcStorm44 from Comfort, great breathability and excellent for mobility. The Men’s Heavyweight II Stretch Baselayer Shirt has been an essential piece in regards to my snowboarding gear. I love the way the baselayer fits, and does not feel overly snug. I feel comfortable all day long on the slopes because of the base layers breathability and Omni-Heat/Omni-Wick technologies. I would highly recommend this baselayer to skiers, snowboarders and general outdoor use.

Rated 4 out of 5 by sbarrett23 from sbarrett23 Great looking baselayer and feels very warm. Originally ordered a small and was too small. The medium feels better but may be a little tight in the armpits. Other than that, fit is good. 5’9” 150

Rated 3 out of 5 by masterklee from Skin tight layer takes getting used to I am 5'9" with a slim build and typically order small sizes from Columbia. I found the small for this item to be very tight fitting and it hugs your body like a second skin. I wasn't used to it and I am not sure if that is the way it is supposed to be. I suggest getting a medium if you are about my size. The product seems to function well as a base layer so far.

Rated 2 out of 5 by JackFrost from overrated and overpriced Since the Cabelas ECWS were unavailable this year, I bought these as a baselayer to protect me from the cold weather. I work outdoors in winters in the northeast. Very unsatisfied with this shirt. They don't feel much warmer than a regular cheap walmart thermal. Even the silver dot lining feels cold inside the house before going out. I will probably never buy from columbia again. Extremely dissapointed. I don't understand the high reviews.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Smittie from Core warmth This product coupled with Heavy Duty Omni Heat Tights provide essential and complete protection from the cold water of Fall and Winter fly fishing in 40 degree water. Worn under high quality waders ( Simms) I have simply not found a better base layer. In extreme cold add an Omni Heat wind block and water proof jacket and you are set for the day

Rated 5 out of 5 by Xray21 from Warm and dry It's real comfy and keeps me warm. The omni-wick technology keeps me from sweating if it gets too warm but it's cold here in MN so this is a great addition during those winter months. Great quality and fits nicely.

Rated 5 out of 5 by BillD from Warm Ski Day I wore this baselayer top on a March ski trip in Vermont with 18 degree temps and 40 mph winds at the summit. I HIGHLY recommend as I wore this with a turtleneck top under a Columbia jacket. The comfort and warmth exceeded my expectations.

Rated 5 out of 5 by BobbaLouie from Perfect for COLD Skiing Wore this on 4 cold Tahoe Ski mornings (0 ~ 5F at 8a), and it kept me perfectly comfortable. And it remained comfortable into the PM when temps approached 40F. I'm 41 inches at the chest, and a medium fits fine. Hope it lasts forever, like my other Columbia gear.

Rated 5 out of 5 by BIL417 from Third one My husband is usually a small in Columbia shirts but he wears a medium in this one. I just bought him his third so that says a lot. It keeps him warm throughout the long WI winter. I line dry them and fluff in the dryer. I definitely would recommend this shirt.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Skibum48 from Heavy Omni Heat base layer. Very warm and comfortable. Snug fit, but does not bind or restrict motion. Wears like iron. Would recommend to anyone who plays or works in COLD weather. Mine are used for skiing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Score from ISP This is the second one of these I have purchased for my son-in-law who is a State Trooper in Idaho. He loves it for those times when he has to stop to help a stranded motorist, or rescue someone who has slid off the icy roads, or when he stops someone doing stupid stuff in sub-freezing weather!

Rated 4 out of 5 by garyk009 from Omni-Heat Base Layer Thermal I tried this out in 30 degree F temperature as soon as I received it. I wore it as my base layer and used a Columbia fleece vest as my top layer. I ended doing some yard work and could tell within 10 minutes I was staying much warmer than I would have with just a basic thermal shirt. I also wore it out later that night as we sat on the back deck with our friends and again, I was warmer than expected. I will say it did not keep me as warm as when I was moving more often but I will definitely be using this as my baselayer for cold weather hiking and kayaking.

Rated 4 out of 5 by HoodEast from Base Layer taken to the next level I've had many base layers in my 35 years of staying warm in the extreme cold. Many have served their purpose for the most part, but have lacked in varying elements. I've finally found exactly what I need - whether it be for skiing, climbing, or just being in the cold weather. The men's heavyweight base layer from Columbia provides reliable resistance to the cold, while aiding in warming you up a bit more with the Omni heat interior. It's a crazy concept to wrap your head around before experiencing it, but let me tell you, it works! The base layer doesn't absorb moisture either and breathes well going out, but is wind resistant when you are switching out layers and exposed directly to the weather. I'd highly recommend this to anyone looking for a solve all base layer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Chase1783 from Runs Small in Comparison to other Men's Columbia Apparel I own a couple of Columbia shirts and jackets and I find the size of the base layer top to be off/not consistent with other Columbia tops. I find most Columbia jackets fit me best in medium while polo's and button ups vary between medium and large depending on cut and style. I purchased the heavyweight base layer in medium for two reasons I wanted it to fit snug due to being a base layer and experience with other shirts and tops taught me that large would be to big. This material does not flex or give and I couldn't even fit into the top (I would say it fits like a small).

Rated 5 out of 5 by Boro from Very comfortable I have been wearing this base layer for work and also to play sports. It feels great and fits well, keeps you dry when sweating, as well as warm on cold days but, always bring a jacket with you. . . You never know!

Rated 2 out of 5 by zorrofish from Not as warm as advertised I wore these (along with the baselayer tights) while fishing in OR in temperatures in the 20's and 30's. The only time they kept me warm was when I was actively fighting fish; the rest of the time I could have worn a simple polypro lognsleeved t-shirt. Not worth paying extra for, but I got them on sale so guess I didn't lay out too much.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Shelly718 from So warm! Bought both the Men’s Heavyweight II Stretch Baselayer Long Sleeve Shirt and Pants for my husband. He's a carpenter and works in below freezing temperatures all winter. These are working out so well for him as his base layer! He said he has been warm on those really cold days and that is very unusual for him. We are going to buy another set soon.

Rated 5 out of 5 by GerryG from Great warmth & fit! I have been wearing silks for many years, but tried some Heavyweight II bottoms a few weeks ago and I was impressed with the warmth. So much so that I bought a couple of the matching tops. Being 6'4", I was delighted by the sleeve length and torso fit. I'm a now a Columbia Convert! But, the warmth factor is outstanding. That reflective lining is something else. So much so, I recently purchased a new Columbia ski jacket with the reflective liner. Now, I have to open the vents! It's great to be warm.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Rob3 from heavyweight baselayer I have been looking for a good baselayer for some time now. I have tried just about every manufacture out there. They just would not fit right, the material would not feel good or they be full of static witch I can't stand. This baselayer is the only one I found that fit true to size felt good kept me warm in 30 degree weather and kept me cool when I started sweating. I plan on buying another pair to have as a extra.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Coaldust from Base Layer - Top (Omni-heat) Having tried for years to get a base layer top that truly kept me warm, and wicked away moisture, I tried the Omni-Heat top. It truly does the job it was designed for. When skiing in somewhat warmer temperatures it keeps you warm & dry. On a day of -12 degrees C, and a wind chill of > -20 C, I was the only one of our ski group to skip the mid morning "warm-up". Great product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by RickinPortland from Great base layer These shirts with the omni heat shield are great for a base layer for winter outdoor sports. Even more useful for me is that I wear them as my under shirt everyday during the New England winter. It just keeps you comfortable when the thermostat is set at 68°. They are form fitting. so if you have a decent physique they are great to wear as a fashionable shirt and kind of cool under a sport coat even. The price is half what some brands charge for similar items.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Eljefe from Needs a looser/relaxed fit style. This fits just like its description. I'm 6'0", 210 lbs. The sleeve length is good. It does pull down below my waist and I can cover my buttocks. The only drawback is that it is a little too snug. Great if you have a very athletic or slim frame. But for the average build, it will snug your belly and accentuate it. If Columbia had this shirt in a looser fit, it would be perfect. I'm afraid if I get an XL, the sleeves would be too long, and it would hang down even lower.
