Great boots! I walk gas lines for a utility company and the terrain ranges from neighborhoods with yards and sidewalks to woods and fields. Along with the terrain challenges moisture was a huge issue and I went through 3 pairs of "waterproof" boots till I tried these and when my boss called and told me he got a pair on clearance for considerably less than what I payed for them, I couldn't order a second pair fast enough! Exactly what I wanted I'm finally writing this review after having these boots for over 3 months. Break in period was several weeks. Once broken in, I've been wearing them daily. They are my primary shoes.Typically, I wear them around the house and yard. Daily I take walks of several miles with the dog either on sidewalks into town or on the trails in the hills of northern California. The grip is solid on pavement, dirt or rocks. No tread wear is evident.The ankle support and protection is great. I feel protected enough to use them on my motorcycle.While I have not yet tested them in muddy conditions, I did test the waterproofing while washing my motorcycle and car. It passed.The only negative comment I have is that the lace loop on the tongue of one boot was not sewn down...a minor manufacturing defect. While I have no doubt Columbia will stand behind its products, I decided this is not an issue for me and just kept the boot. March 18, 2013
Men's Hellion™ OutDry The boot is true to fit, requires no break in time as they are very easy to wear out of the box. They are very light and comfortable, and the hope is that they are waterproof as described as I have not tested that aspect. Based on my experience thus far I would have no problem buying another pair, or recommending these hiking boots. March 17, 2013

Excellent Boot This is a really nice boot. It is light-weight enough, but still sturdy, so you can use it with a pack on an extended trip, or just as a day hiker. I like the soles which are thick and well padded. My foot feels really secure in the footbed when laced up, so need to worry about planters facia rearing its ugly head. There's alot of value here in this practical, well-designed and made boot. I give it two thumbs up! January 25, 2013

Great fit, great hikers I took these for a climb of Mt. Monadnock in Jaffrey, NH straight out of the box, and they worked perfectly. Great grip on the rocks, and perfectly comfortable even the first time out. I'm looking forward to using them in colder weather and in the snow. September 3, 2012
