Columbia shoe fits role This is my third pair of Columbia shoes. I've worn them in just about every circumstance of life and on trips around the world. The quality, fit, and comfort are unparalleled in my experience. This shoe, just like its two predecessors in my wardrobe, was road ready straight out of the box. Due to the holes in the upper, I can wear these for walking in the hot Texas summers without my feet getting too hot. When it's cold, I'll wear one of the other Columbia pairs. They're warmer. Switchback Low, good shoe, vented design, should be great in summer. This is the second set of Columbia shoes I have purchased.Fits my wider than normal foot well.Vented design is cool for winter use. I use these shoes for work as a roof climbing shoe. Next pair will be a mid versus a low design for better ankle support. My last pair lasted about 8 months which is pretty descent considering how I abuse them. January 27, 2013

Around town shoe Can't believe these are being advertised and used as a trail shoe on uneven terrain. They have little lateral stability or sufficient stiffness of sole to be useful for long on more than a mild trail. Around town, though, those requirements aren't paramount and that's where these shoes shine. They also seem to have better than average grip on snow and ice, although they are too well ventilated for cold weather. January 6, 2013
Versatile Shoe Great shoes that perform well in many conditions. Extremely comfortable and provides great cushion. I've even had to run a 5K in these and felt no discomfort! December 27, 2012

Uncomfortable I've bought Columbia for over 12 years and have been satisfied the whole time. This is the first I've been very disappointed. There was a wrinkle on the insert causing it to rub on my arch. Thought after break in it would go away but didn't. Bought cheap inserts to cover it up. I won't give up on Columbia over this one incident but am not happy with my $90 shoes. October 6, 2012
Great shoe I have not been on the real trail yet; however, they feel like they would be great. They have nice traction, fit, and even at times feel like part of my foot. That is hard to find for a fairly inexpensive shoe.I was glad they did not feel like a ski boot. September 13, 2012
These shoes are awesome! I have owned just about every brand of shoes you can think of and I have to say Columbia might be the best yet. I am a roofer and wear these shoes everyday. I am very hard on shoes. If there is a better shoe out there for the abuse I put shoes through, I haven't found them! They are very very comfortable, light weight, and look great too! I usually have problems finding a shoe that is a good fit as I have extreme flat feet The original switchback shoes I purchased started to "squeak" 2 weeks after I bought them. I put up with the defect until it was annoying and then returned them to the outlet I bought them from. I wanted to replace them with the same shoe because they fit so well. Unfortunataly the store didn't have my size and I was ready to buy my old pair back but they had shipped them out. I was given a discount coupon to buy them online. I bought 2 pair because they are awesome! Columbia products have quality and reliability built in. This incident was in my opinion a "fluke". August 24, 2012

Blisters First- I love Columbia shoes. Unfortuanately this particular shoe has a design flaw. I was excited to get them, but can't wear them. The left shoe is fine, but the right shoe is not. There is a seam that comes together on the back, behind your heel. As you walk it slowly rubs the skin off the back of your ankle. I don't know if I just got a bad pair or what? You can't feel the seam in the left shoe and it fits and performs great. Definately bummmed out that I spent 83 dollars on a shoe I can't wear. February 3, 2012
