Black Lay D Vest Excellent quality. Have not wore yet. I needed XL.The velcro is only in 3 places, not along the length. I did not find this bothersome. Actually, I like it because, if you need to quickly hold the front together you can just use the velcro, instead of the zipper. It is not noisy velcro like some. March 25, 2013

little small but overall very happy I had been looking for a very warm, black vest for an upcoming trip. I was very surprised to find this vest comparable in specs (warmth, material etc) for less than some of the other brands I typically look to.The pros - I love the removable hood with the trim, it's a great detail and makes it even more flexible and functional. The vest is very warm and seems well constructed. The velcro a few other reviews mentioned doesn't bother me.The con - it definitely runs small. I debated going up a size based on the reviews but decided to stick with the medium (I'm 5'-8", size 8) and it fits - but is definitely a little tight with a few layers underneath. Of course in my eagerness to wear it I took off the tags and now can't exchange it:) so I'll make it work!Overall very happy and I'll definitely keep Columbia in mind for my next outdoor gear purchase. This is the best vest I have owned!! It has great warmth and style. Love that it has a detachable hood, so it can be worn well into spring!! The fit was perfect. I got one in black and in white. Soft and comfortable I purchased this vest for my 10 year old daughter, who has the body of a teenager. She's 5'3" and weights 120 lbs. She's a competitive swimmer so her back is wider than most, however I was shocked when an adult medium just fit. I chose to return it and purchase a large, which gave her room to grow and wear a sweat shirt underneath the vest. She loves it! It's soft, comfortable, and lightweight. There is no excess puffiness to the vest, which is nice for a down vest. February 28, 2013
Perfect puffy vest After searching through a bunch of different brands of puffy vests, I purchased the Columbia Women's Lay "D" Down Vest. Not only was it a competitive price, but I loved that it had a removable hood with removable trim. It is also super warm because of the omni-heat layer inside the vest. Stunning/Functional/Beautiful/So HOT I never thought I would ever get a vest until I tried one for a couple days. Then I went on the hunt for the perfect one, and stumbled across this one in Sports Chalet. I wanted it immediately but looked for the best deal, and found it on this website. I can't imagine a more perfect vest--removable faux fur/hood, SO WARM, and stylish, it can't be beat. Definitely worth the money, I highly recommend! It doesn't have inner pockets, but the outside hand pockets are spacious and keep my hands cozy. The collar goes up pretty far, I never zip it all the way up. I got XS, I am 5,1 and 116 lbs. Enjoy!!! cold girl I bought this vest to layer with my sweatshirts, light coats and sweaters. The fabric is a little nicer then other vest materials I have had in the past. It repails water very nicely and keeps me toasty warm. I am cold a lot, so I really think I will end up wearing this vest year round. The hood option is great, and I love the fact that you can take off the fur on the hood if you do not need it on a daily basis. February 6, 2013
Best Vest I've Ever Owned By far the nicest, most well made vest I've ever owned. Of course, as the saying goes, "you get what you pay for". Extremely comfortable, and cozy warm. Love that the fur trim is removable, as well as the entire hood itself. The micro fiber (or whatever the outer shell is made of) is so cozy soft. The velcro closures on the front are a bit of a nuisance, as it tends to catch on scarves, gloves, sweaters, etc. but I like the vest so much, I will tolerate it. Only downside I can think of is that the collar does not stand up since the weight of the hood tends to pull it back. I like having the extra warmth up around my neck without having to zip the vest all the way up. January 22, 2013
Runs small and tight, but very versatile I originally ordered this for myself, but the medium was too small for me when it arrived, so I gave it to my mother for Christmas. She fell in love with how soft and cosy it is, especially since she doesn't like to wear a full-blown winter coat outside. Be warned that is looks funny on people who are tall or have long torsos. This product was almost perfect... This vest was perfect in every way with the exception of the Velcro strips, which made it virtually unwearable with a sweater. I snagged a sweater just trying the vest on and then spent 20 minutes cleaning out the fibers. I returned this vest solely because of the Velcro, but would buy it again in a heartbeat if it had snaps instead. December 13, 2012
READY FOR MY LONG DOG WALKS I have other brands of winter vests but this one is theprettiest of all! I am not crazy about the velco used to close the jacket over the zipper but the furry hood is an attractrive and functional feature along with the contrasting black zippers and gray material on top which peeks out. I went for a long walk with my 2 pomeranians yesterday in the bitter cold and did not feel a thing. I would have liked the vest to have been made a little less snug but it does fit. The vest is as light as a feather; I think my scarf weighs more! I think the vest is worth the money but I did use my birthday discount. November 26, 2012

It feels so good when you're wearing it (dare I say, luxurious?) - cozy and warm and the fabric is clearly high quality.The vest looks great - the fur collar is super cute without being over the top. The amount of insulation is just right - I was concerned it was going to be too puffy - but with the Omni-Heat, the puff is minimized while retaining a ton of warmth.I usually wear a small (5'5", 125 lbs) and that's what I got and it fits just right. You get what you pay for. And with Columbia, you get a lot. As per normal, Columbia delivers great again with this. I bought it for my girlfriend as a present, and she absolutely loves it. In addition to it looking great on her and being a perfect fit, it keeps her warm without overdoing it. (And when it's that cold, her Columbia jacket does the job just fine.) Columbia Lay 'D' Down Vest I am quite pleased with my Columbia Lay 'D' Down vest. I usually wear a Medium and ordered a Large for layering purposes. It is the perfect size for layering. The vest is quite well-designed and of quality construction. It is perfect for cold and/or wet weather. The omni-heat feature is great! I also love the ability to remove the hood, if desired. The fur trim adds a nice touch. I definitely recommend the Lay 'D' Down Vest to anyone who desires quality at an affordable price. Columbia is truly the Best! January 23, 2012

Great Vest Very warm, comfortable, and looks pretty cool. I've worn it every day since I got it, and find that it is perfect for those days I am running in and out of stores, schools, etc. The velcro is slightly annoying when it sticks to a scarf or clothing, but it happens rarely and should not dissuade you from purchasing the vest. Oh, and the hood is great to block the wind but you wont have peripheral vision. Great site, too. Easy to order.I am 5'7" and 120 lbs. and ordered a small. January 22, 2012

Women's Lay 'D' Down Vest - loooove it I got this in a size small although I'm usually a medium on top because of the reviews. It fits perfectly! I've gotten so many compliments on this, and it's just so comfy.The fleece lined neck is so soft and warm, and the vest itself has become my new San Francisco jacket alternative. It's also perfect when I travel - stay cozy and plush in my seat without much bulk.One con is the velcro along the zipper. It cheapens the look a bit, although it's come in functionally handy. This vest is stylish, well-made and warm. I am a size 10-12. I ordered this vest in an XL in hopes of wearing a mid to heavy weight sweater under it. It is so small that I can't close it wearing anything other than a lightweight sweater or cotton t-neck. Kind of defeats the purpose of this nice warm vest ! December 26, 2011

Love it I needed something that could keep me warm but not overheat me since my car does not exist and i bike and walk most places. This vest is wonderful for that. It keeps my upper chest warm but doesn't get me sweltering. I bought the cream and it looks elegant and sporty. I am a fit 5'7 and columbia runs big on me, so I bought the XS small because my upper chest and shoulders are quite petite, so it fits me very well. Normally I would wear a small. Excellent vest, wish it didn't have velcro Pluses: warm. Good fit; not too shiny on the outside. comfortable, lightweight. fashionable. cool hood. loved the inside breast pocket. quality zippers.Minuses: the inside lining is extremely shiny, in great contrast to the exterior matte black--which is a bit too flashy esp b/c people get black to be neutral, not necessarily stand out that much.And the velcro should be replaced with a better fastening mechanism--something like a snap--- when you a fluctuating from hotter to colder areas and just want a quick or partial fastening, you use the velcro, but it comes apart too easily.the soft fleecy neck-lining is a bit too soft--it is almost oily feeling. How to measure
- Chest/Bust: Measure at the fullest part of the chest, under the armpits and over the shoulder blades, keeping the tape measure firm and level.
- Waist: Measure around natural waistline, allowing tape measure to sit comfortably.
- Hips: Measure around the fullest part of your hips.
- Sleeves: Start at the center back of your neck and measure across the shoulder to the elbow and down to the the wrist. Round up to the next even number.
- Inseam: Measure from the top of the interior leg to the bottom of the ankle.
