Silver Ridge Convertible Pant Love these pants! I travel for fun a LOT and spend a lot of time in the wilderness. My clothing must be comfortable and fit well. It must be versatile. It must be durable. It has to be quick drying. It can't wrinkle easily. These pants fit the bill to a T. I bought 2 pairs. Wonderful clothing. Wonderful piece of gear. Wish they didn't cost so much but if they last 15 years, that's only $6/year. A worthy investment. Definitely a BUY. November 23, 2013
Good but could be better I like the pants overall. They seemed to fit true to size and are light weight. I have comments on 2 areas. The right cargo pocket is closed with velcro. The velcro patches are relatively small. When one has quite a few things in the right cargo pocket (or something heavier), the middle of the pocket sags and it is hard to get the velcro on the pocket flap to contact the velcro on the pocket plus it doesn't hold very well once the 2 velcro parts match up. So, a larger area of velcro on the right cargo pocket would be helpful. Also, when converting to shorts, having a zipper down the leg to better remove them over shoes/boots would be beneficial - of course, that would likely drive up the cost to add that feature. Great lightweight hiking pants for all conditions Theses are a very comfortable convertible hiking pants. They save you having to pack more in since you can zip the legs off and you have shorts hence the reason I bought them. They are light, comfy, and are also UV protected so honestly what more could you ask. Got a pair for me as well as the GF and she wears them all the time. Just make sure you use a tape measure and use the sizing instruction correctly to get the best fit as there are a lot of sizing options and you want to get the best fit, especially in the women's sizes. In the men's it's probably a good idea to go up one size if you are close, I am usually in between a 36 and a 38 waist and usually always go 38 even though the sizing chart recommended a 36 I still went with a 38 so they would be a bit more comfortable. This product has change Sorry but I like your former Silver Ridge models, the new model has a belt holder system around the back of the pants that is hard to put your belt through. Also, they don't have zippers on the bottom of the pants leg so if you want to remove your pants for the convertible look you have to remove your shoes. Finally and sadly there is no stuff pocket on your left leg to store your bottom convertible pants. November 3, 2013
great buy purchased these pants for my husband size was true to fitzippers work well material is lightweight and comfortableworth the but October 21, 2013
Fit like a dream I purchased these for my husband. We will be going to Coasta Rica in a few weeks . He is looking forward to the comfort and light weight features . October 13, 2013
Good pant for the money Good fit and confortable. Same pant in a heavier fabric would be a nice option. October 9, 2013
A Great Product. These pants wear great, feels like you've nothing on except around the waist. My wife likes the fact that they're wash and dry - no ironing needed. I have the green and beige. Highly recommend these. Also like the feature of the zip-off legs for shorts. October 6, 2013
Good for travelling light The color choice for these pants are great. They look really good and fit nicely, although they do seem a little longer in the leg than what you purchase. I have to roll mine up so I don't walk the hem off the bottom. I haven't converted them to be used as shorts yet, but i'm sure they work fine. The pockets could be a little deeper - everything falls out of the front pockets when you sit down. The crotch could be a little larger or have some stretch to it for some added comfort. They keep me cool as I work in hot and humid environments, but I would not recommend these for skilled trade type work. October 1, 2013
Fits like a glove only they're pants! You can never go wrong witha pair of convertible pants. Versatile, easy to wash and wear and light. I bought these for my husband who swears to only wear columbia convertibles. I thought they were a little snug on him, but he insisted they were comfortable and could move easily in them without restriction. Have to take his word, he's the one wearing the pants. September 30, 2013
Overall excellent I have always liked Columbia products and have bought Silver Ridge before. These seem to be improved in that the buckle, button and zipper action work better making the front lie flatter. September 14, 2013
Silver Ridge convertable pants, a WINNER!!!! perfect for camping, hiking, rafting....pockets are great. Nice fit. September 10, 2013
nice convertible cargo pants Exactly as described in catalog as far as look, material and function. Have not worn them in an outdoors situation yet, but they will be my main pants in my upcoming trip to the Solomon Islands. Giving 4 stars instead of 5 stars because I haven't worn them in the field yet. September 10, 2013
Outstanding product Bought my first two pairs of silver ridges in 2008 and thoroughly thrashed them ever since. Have had competitors brands, but nothing has stood up to weeks of backcountry adventure, boulders, brush and sun like these! My worst pair still looks good enough to wear to town. September 1, 2013
Tight Waist I'm a size 34 waist and have been a long time. These pants are tight in the waist and crotch. Buy the next size up to be safe.Otherwise a good pair of convertible pants. August 29, 2013
Great pant, does the job, but the fit is a little slim. I like the pant, they are well constructed. Heat comes off easily and water evaporates quickly. The fit is a little to slender/slim for my liking, however they usually loosen up after a day on the trail. The built in belt is a nice feature, in fact I switch it between my different trail pants. I found that the Blood and Guts II pant has a better fit for my liking. August 19, 2013
My Happy Pants I LOVE these pants! These are practically the only pants/shorts I wear. I've have some of the REI Sahara convertible pants as well, but these Columbia pants are the reference standard as far as I'm concerned. My wife had to reinforce sew the button on 1 pair so far, but that's the only problem I've ever had with them. August 14, 2013
As good as before Had 2 pairs from at least 10 years ago, and one just starting wearing thin. Wear them very often. The new ones seem just as good as my previous pairs and I hope they last as Long. August 11, 2013
Good for warm weather Great pants but they are to "baggie". Slimmer fit would be MUCH better. August 10, 2013
Great travel and movie pants When in doubt about weather conditions, this is a versatile pants. Sometimes the movie theaters are too cold so my husband always wears the convertible pants. Very lightweight and easy to pack for trips too, especially in the summer. Only problem was color difficult to distinguish when making our selection. Wanted a grey so took gravel. Gravel is more of a green olive color. But that is ok because we plan to have more pairs of the convertible pants in different colors. August 8, 2013
Pants for a summer in Thailand I bought a pair of these pants specifically for an extended trip to Thailand, and I'm glad I did. I bought them just slightly too big in the waist so that the crotch would have a loose, breezy, fit, and that worked out very well. (After a month in-country, my waist got smaller, so I had the side elastics tailored.)The thin nylon is the right weight for this hot, humid, place, and it breathes well. The pants dry very quickly, making them a great choice for travel anywhere. The pockets are durable and convenient. So far, I’ve worn them on the plane, then worn them daily for a week of running around Bangkok. I washed them, then lived in them for a week of beaches and beach towns. I washed them, then lived in them for a week at a forest monastery. Now I’m in Chiang Mai, wearing them as I write this review. I have another pair of nylon convertible pants, but they’ve been relegated to back-up status, being worn when the Silver Ridge pants were at the laundry.I only have two things to criticize: (1) The hook-and-loop patches on the pockets are too small and weak and tend to open under very mild stress, like sitting down with my wallet in my back pocket. The hook-and-loop patches should be at least twice as big.(2) The crotch is too tight for the waist size. Pants for tropical climates should be baggy so that you stay dry down there.I'm buying another pair when I return to the USA, so that I'll have two pair for my next trip to Southeast Asia. July 29, 2013
Disappointing For pants designed for hiking, the cut is too snug. Too restrictive around the thighs and the rise is not high enough. July 15, 2013
Men's Silver Ridge™ Convertible Pant I purchased a second pair of Men's Silver Ridge™ Convertible Pants since I liked the first pair so well. We recently spent three weeks traveling in Europe and these were my primary pants on almost all of our day trips. I have a medium build and wanted a pair of moisture wicking pants that weren't baggy like many cargo types but fit like regular pants, and these fit the bill. I also use them for extended day hikes and found them perfect for a full backpack trip of the John Muir Trail. They fit nicely, wick moisture very well, are comfortable, look good and are extremely durable. As an avid outdoor photographer, I'm on my knees frequently to capture macro photos of flora. I've had the pants a couple of years now and have yet to experience a rip or tear anywhere on them. July 14, 2013
Pretty Decent I ordered these for working in hot humid areas in the middle east. I'm 5'6" and normally wear a 36X30 or 38X30 size pants. I ordered the 38X30 just to ensure they would fit. The waistline seemed pretty decent, but it's just a tad bit long. Either way, they seem to be pretty decent as far as being lightweight and easy to wear. The durability factor I can't really comment on, as I have an office job. July 8, 2013
Great Pants Might be the best, most comfortable pants I've ever owned. They are very light weight...which I love, and they fit great. I like them so much that I bought six pair...one of each color. Really like the way they comvert from regular long pants to shorts...very easy to go back and forth. I'm sure if there were more colors available I woulod order them. July 6, 2013
Couldn't get a more comfortable pair of pants!! I'm a guy that usually wears jeans for everything. I recently bought a pair of these pants and was blown away at how comfortable, light weight, cool these pants actually are. I'll never wear jeans for the outdoors again! June 29, 2013
Everything I was looking for. Love everything about theses pants. As a 6'2" guy and 220 lbs fit is important. The true to size of these pants was on the money. I have other pants like this but they have no fly. A bummer. These not have a fly but also have two pockets in back. I like to keep my wallet in one and a handkerchief in the other (for wiping my brow after reeling in that 30 lb trout!). I also liked the slimmer leg these pants have. Much more stylish than others I've tried. These pants are worth every penny. June 28, 2013
Quality and Durability is declining I own an older pair of Columbia convertible pants and they are much more durable, and of a better quality. Like most clothing sold today there is a rush to the bottom to increase profits. Columbia is not what it used to be. I only bought these because I was looking for a lighter color, and no one else seemed to have it. June 12, 2013
Most useful pants Excellent fit and function. Light fabric keeps you cool, zip off pants legs very functional, and allows best flexibility for changing weather. Or if you need to cover up to avoid sun or mosquitos. June 5, 2013
Great Experience! I have been wearing these pants (Silver Ridge convertible) for approx 5 years. First purchased a pair from store in Portland, Or.Since the first purchase, been wearing mostly spring and summer months. No question, most comfortable, durable, easy to maintain pants ever. June 3, 2013
Fits Like Skinny Jeans I live in Central Florida (Oviedo-Orlando). I run daily, walk the dogs, swim daily, play basketball and football, outside archery, outside target practice, at the beach weekly, and kayak monthly. These pants are way to tight and fit like skinny jeans. I am 6'1" and weigh 180 pounds. I normally wear a 34" waist. My thighs and rear end were screaming from the snug fit.Returned for two sizes larger. 38" waist with 34" length fits great. I would highly recommend ordering not one(1), but two (2) sizes larger. May 31, 2013
Great pants Love these pants! They are great for a trek or just wearing on your day off. They do fit a little small in the waist. I would highly recommend them. May 30, 2013
POCKET YOU PUT THE ZIPPER POCKET ON THE WRONG SIDE. I HAVE THREE OTHER PAIR AND THEY ARE ON THE RIGHT SIDE. EARL May 30, 2013
Mens Silver Ridge Pants Ordered these pants in 5 colors. Each pair of pants were suppossed to be the same size. The length varied as much as two inches between the colors. Not happy that I had to take them to a tailor. May 24, 2013
Silver Ridge Convertible Pants I lovr to hike in these pants. They are light, comfortable, durable and dry in a hurry. In my opinion there are no better pants for hikers. May 22, 2013
Quality has suffered. Purchased two pair Columbia convertible pants in 2009. Since then, I have searched high and low in various sporting goods and clothing stores to no avail for something that matched those excellent pants. I wore those convertibles 12 mos. per year (winter in AZ), almost every day. I took them on three trips to Australia and wore them exclusively. I still have one pair left, but wanted one or two more.Took a chance on-line and ordered one pair from Columbia. I will wear them around the house but they do not come close to matching the quality that Columbia used to sell. They are baggy, have a riveted front button which will not stand the test of time, and only one zippered cargo pocket. The "original" convertibles had two zippered rear pockets, and a zippered key pocket. Unlike the new pair, they fit comfortably, and were slimmer in the legs. My "originals" wore like iron. I'll have to see how long these last, but I know I won't wear them as often. Will have to search for other makes in the future. Columbia quality has suffered, probably due to increased costs to make them like they used to. For what they cost me, I am not satisfied. May 13, 2013
Great These pants are not only tough but they are lightweight enough to be comfortable in hot weather. The only issue I have had is that some of the stitching has worn out on the seat of the pants. Overall an excellent pair of pants. May 12, 2013
Good but... The first pair arrived with a defective seem in the rear just below the waist line. Columbia was great about returning them and even refunded my original shipping cost and sent me a new pair with free 2-day shipping. The new pair are free of defects but are a bit too snug in the crotch so if you order these get a size larger than you normally wear. Otherwise I like them. I like the zipper pocket on the left side rather than the velcro flap pocket on the right. They would be perfect if they had a zipper on the lower leg to make removing them easier when you take the legs off. May 6, 2013
Great for hot sun I live in the Caribbean and I bought my first pair of these on a trip to FL. They fit great and were comfortable but really I bought that pair because they were on sale. I just bought another pair full price because I love these so much. They breathe so well I have yet to zip off the legs and wear as shorts. I find they are very cool as long pants. I wear them boating, to the beach, and hiking. I find they repel splashes well and they dry fast. How much do I love them? I wear them all day and sleep in them at night. These are the best warm weather pants out there. I have not tried them in cold. I would go a size up if you plan to layer them. They are athletic cut and I find they fit very true to size. Great lightweight pack pants. They do come with a nylon belt. I wish I had these when we hiked the Camino de Santiago. They will certainly be my go-to hiking pants. I do a lot of adventure travel. Please note that the Abyss color is a dark navy. Thought I was getting black but I like the navy. I guess it makes more sense as an Abyss would be dark blue. Just mentioning for anyone that sees the picture and thinks they are black. May 6, 2013
Perfect, Versatile Travel Pants I've bought these pants three years in a row for my middle school-aged son to wear on class trips to Utah, Italy and Spain. Each trip has happened at that point in the spring where it is impossible to know whether the weather will be hot or cold on any given day. He says the pants are super comfortable, and he loves that they can turn into shorts. I love that they dry quickly, pack easily and are wrinkle-resistant. April 26, 2013
Men's Airgill Convertible Pants Love the pants but I have two recommendations. The belt clasp releases too quickly with certain motions. In addition, on the models without belt loops and with belt sleeve, the belt retracts into the sleeve during washing and it's very difficult to retrieve. April 23, 2013
Great Convertables These are comfortable and very versatile pants. They run a bit snug, would prefer to have pleated pants, but they look crisp and neat wash after wash. One zip cargo pocket and one flap with velcro - would be quite an improvement with two zipped pockets. Likewise two back pockets with flaps and velcro, no zippers.A bit pricey and rarely found on sale. All in all, I love them and bought six pairs, it's all I wear. April 22, 2013
Does more than expected We travel extensively, and Columbia's product are just perfect. They clean easily, no ironing, and look good. Fit as described. Here's a real plus: I spilled bleach on a pant leg, and it washed off, no stain nor discoloration. Can't say it will always work, but do attest it did once. And they look like new! April 18, 2013
Everyday Use Living in Colorado I have found these pants to be so functional that I have adopted them for everyday use. I use them for backpacking, flyfishing (bottom portion come off easily for wading),hiking, and day to day activities. Thier ability to dry so fast are also a a great additonal feature. I truly believe a person can't go wrong with this product! April 16, 2013
Happy with these. I can say that these pants are some of the best I have worn. The fit is perfect and the feel is better than that. I am 175 and 5'-10 and the 34"x 32" fit great. April 14, 2013
Great pants Best quality wear the all the time and they are great to travel. Very comfortable too. April 11, 2013
Good item, but runs small. I have bought Columbia convertible pants in past - size 38 x 32 and they fit fine. This pair for some reason ran small. I like the elastic strips in the waist since this usually accomodates my waist size. But this pair fell short. April 8, 2013
I was so pleased, I ordered 1 of every color. They fit my tall, slim build perfectly. The pocketing is very golfer friendly, they have a good color selection. and their versatility and easy care saves a lot of packing space while traveling. April 6, 2013
Great Pants These pants run true to size, durable, and dry quickly. Great pants for work, and play. Avid Hiker and Kayak have worn these pants doing both, remained perfectly comfortable. The zip off legs conversion is a comfortable length, and the zipper operates without issue. April 2, 2013
Great Pants! These pants are great! They look and feel great. I wear these on the water and when I'm running errands around town. Everyone needs a pair of these pants. March 19, 2013
