Fit is good It is not what I was looking for. It fits fine but pockets are small and there is not front pocket with a zipper. Only the back pockets are zippered. I hike and travel and like to keep my wallet in my pocket. I need a pocket in front that I can keep track of that has a zipper. Velcro isn't secure enough. I do like the short length. November 11, 2013
Love these! Great pants, nice fit, comfortable and light weight, would definitely order another pair. November 10, 2013
Perfect hiking trouser These arrived the night before a week's holiday of hiking in Arizona. They were ideal for all weather conditions and held up well against grabby cacti! October 12, 2013
Multiuse I love this pant, the pockets are very useful. I bought a black one because it was the only color available in short. I would buy other colors as soon as they become avialable in short. September 30, 2013
Great hiking pants I wore these pants on a four day 40 mile hike. They held up beautifully. Best of all, when I was rafting and got splashed, they dried quickly. They can be washed in the afternoon and ready to wear the next morning. September 27, 2013
great product definately get the next size up. I thought I could get my normal size despite what I read in the reviews. lesson learned...very comfy September 26, 2013
Comfortable, functional pants I got these pants and immediately took them hiking up in the Sierra mountains. They "converted" to shorts really easily. The adjustable waist was unexpected and awesome. I have muscular legs and often need a size larger then I'd wear in the waist, so I was thrilled to be able to easily tighten up. Also, there is hidden elastic at bottom of pant to cinch if necessary to help with length. The pockets were perfect, held my necessities, and the fabric kept me cool. I will try the stretch version next. September 17, 2013
Great Fitting Pants I don't usually order pants because I am small in the waist compared to my hips and thighs. These pants have an elastic band that you can adjust making it possible to have pants that fit in the waist and the hips. Sometimes I need a size 14 to get a fit through the hip and thighs but these size 12 pants are perfect for me. You will definitely not need to order a size up. The light weight fabric will be perfect for summer hiking but does let them tend to wrinkle. I have not worn them yet but am looking forward to giving them a workout in Ireland in a couple of weeks. July 21, 2013
Universal pants In the outdoors or pavement jungles these pants offer sun protection, breathability and good construction. July 7, 2013
Extactly what I was looking for! Everything about this pant is great. The color the length (I'm 5'4") and the shorts. They are a great length when the bottom section is zipped off. Not too short and not too long. I got these for a 10 day canoe trip my husband and I are going on. They will be just the ticket! July 4, 2013
nice pants I have 2 pairs of these pants. One from the outlet store (because they were flawed - back pockets sewn oddly) and the second from the website. The second pair runs true to size! (The flawed pair ran very small). I would recommend that you order your true size. Columbia must have adjusted the sizing. I hike in these and they are great for summer hiking. I plan on taking them on a a 2 week hiking trip and know they will work great. June 26, 2013
favorite pants These are my favorite pants. I have the old silver ridge pants as well but these are better. The fabric is more breathable and stretchy. I use them year round, but we have pretty mild winters here. In the summer they are great for sun protection, they wick sweat, and dry quickly. Great for any outdoorsy woman or fisherwoman looking to keep the UV rays at bay and stay comfortable (keep in mind I would rather sweat a little from wearing pants than get sun damage) June 25, 2013
Love these pants I read previous reviews before ordering that said these pants ran really small and to order a larger size. I normally wear a 2 to 4 and ordered a 6. Way too big. Ordered a size 4 and still big but I was able to take them up with the elastic adjuster inside the waist band. I should have just ordered the 2 and they would have been perfect. I love the quality and fit of these convertible pants. They are great for camping on the coast where it can get cool. I am petite and loved the fact that I could order them in short length. June 8, 2013
pants great fit, would definitely buy again June 7, 2013
pants Bought pants for an upcoming European trip. Really going to help with packing space. Fit great. Ordered on line in-store, a breeze. May 28, 2013
I like, but... I like these pants, but...This seems to be the theme here. I don't think the pants run very small, except for the leg zipper. I'm 5'5", 135, and I got a size 8. They're comfortable walking and hiking, but not sitting because the zippers are too tight.Anyway,I like the super soft fabric, BUT... it pills really bad. I wore these pants on a 3 day backpacking trip, and they look awful. I wouldn't wear them to town now. The back waistband area looks like I've had these pants for 5 years.I like the way they fit when I'm walking, BUT... the zipper around the leg is way too small so they are uncomfortable to sit in.I like the style of the shorts once you zip off the legs, BUT it would be better if they were 3 inches shorter. Stuff in the side leg pocket moves awkwardly. They'd be so perfect if the leg zipper had an extra inch and if the fabric was more sturdy. Wear these for around town and day hikes with light/no pack. They won't hold up for more serious endeavors. May 26, 2013
Convertible pant Very happy with my order. Of Course I already knew the quality of the products. Columbia is excellentIt is the third pants I buy, always satisfied.regards May 26, 2013
great convertable pants been looking for a comfortable pair of convertable pants but the stores never carry it in the larger sizes(xl) so I decided to take a chance and ordered online and received item they are a perfect fit. I would definetly order again theya are so comfy! easy to pack and look great on May 5, 2013
Comfortable, Cool, and Great Quality I am so excited that I found a pair of pants that will work for me in the Spring and Summer in Sisters, OR. What I really liked was that even though it was windy near the lake, my legs were still protected. Also, I read a previous review to use the measurement tables to identify which size to buy, and I am glad I did. Normally I wear a four size, but I decided to go up just to be safe. The inside of the waistband, in the back, gives the option to tighten if the pants are still a little loose around the waist.Even though I have only used them once, I am excited to use them again throughout the hot summer. April 29, 2013
Buy a larger size I have A LOT of junk in my trunk, but still, I normally wear a 6 in pants. With these I tried on several pairs at my local Columbia store. I was really surprised when the 12's fit me the best. The waist was super loose but the legs fit me just right. I should mention that I have muscular legs too. I was able to cinch the waist all the way to the last button hole (there are 5 on each side) and then these pants fit me PERFECTLY. I am really thankful for the adjustable waist elastic band because it is (literally) impossible to find pants like these for petite women with an ample derriere unless you ask a tailor to make them for you ($$$).So one size up as a general rule if you plan to hike and be active in these pants, but add some sizes if you have muscular legs and/or a healthy booty. April 7, 2013
Love these pants They are so great, I'm going to order them in order colors too. I'm 5'10" and it's hard to find long pants. These were perfect. February 9, 2013
My new work pants I sometimes am out in the field as a travel guide and these pants meet all the requirements of the different terrains that I'm in. I haven't had a chance to actually wear them to work yet that's why my overall rating is just good. But the fabric and functionality are excellent. I'm somewhat athletic built with muscles in my thighs and was afraid that the zipper around the thigh would be uncomfortable. Fortunately I do have some moving space with the size that I got. One absolute recommendation: Follow the Columbia size chart to determine what size you should get. I'm normally a size 4 and got these in an 8. They fit just fine. December 8, 2012
Excellent Product!!! The pants are great for working and playing outdoors. They are light weight, breath well, and dry quickly. Be aware that the sizes run a bit small and I had to get one size larger than I have to with other brands, but this does not effect the quality of the pants. I highly recommend these! December 7, 2012
very poor fit The item fits extremely poorly. It is very frustrating that the same size from the same company cannot be relied upon.At least free return shipping should be offered if your clothing must always have to be returned. December 3, 2012
cool and dry I am a meter reader so I work outside. I wanted something that would keep me dry but not suffocate me while doing so and these pants do just that they keep me dry without overheating me. November 9, 2012
Pants run a size smaller than you would usually wear Love the material...downside - order a size larger than you usually wear! I wear a size 4, but I had to order a size 6. It fits just a tad larger than a 4 usually does, but they work. November 5, 2012
Love these pants! These pants are very comfortable and kept me at the perfect temperature on a strenuous hike. They don't provide much room in the seat for someone with any kind of hind end. October 18, 2012
Too Short and too small I'm 5'10, with a full bottom and normally could wear other brands in size 16 but the sizing on these pants is way too small and too short -- I had to return them. You may need to order up a size if you have full hips.Tried the Mens version for length and couldn't find sizes available (needed 38/34 which is interesting because I can fit into his other brands 36-34) - no 38 available in the color - style I wanted.Returned all of them. My husband loves his though and we like the quality! October 9, 2012
Not true to size/odd fit for some but maybe not all I bought a size 2 (typically wear a 0 in anything)I'm an avid cyclist and I didn't think I had large quads but apparently I do so cyclists and runners keep this in mind. When I received these pants, they were exactly what I expected in terms of material, ease of use and style.. (lightweight, simple and easy to convert from shorts to pants, the shorts were a decent length, just above the knee)But, the problem I ran into is once I had them on, I attempted to lift my legs as if I were hiking and the pant would rub funny on my leg where the convertible pant zipper was and I though eh maybe that's not a big deal, then I got my leg up at about a 90 degree angle as if i had to get over a large rock or tree down...that's when the pant actually got stuck on my quads! I put my leg back down and the pant didn't fall! I wear a zero or xs in most every pant I own, these were a two and the waste was just about right but the quad area was not even close ...this may be okay for some if you have little or no quad muscles. And I'm sorry, but because of the fit issues I was not able to try out the product out so I cannot say much for quality and function except I have owned many of Columbia products similar to these and they are well made and function as they should.Good luck, hope this helped. October 8, 2012
great pants but ran small in size Love the pants but they run small. I typically wear a 12 but ended up with a 16 for comfort in the thighs and hips. They do have an adjustable waist so you can make the waist smaller to fit. October 6, 2012
Great pants...runs small I love these pants, but they run very small. I had to send my pair back and hope I can get a bigger size. I recommend ordering at least one size larger, and maybe two sizes. September 30, 2012
Love these pants! Bought 2 pair--black & dark grey--size ten. I am 5'5 1/2" & 128 lbs. Fit very well. Got them wet while boating, & they dried very quickly. Great for outdoors, travel. They do sit low on waist, & I will be happy if higher waists ever come back into fashion! September 19, 2012
Cute, versatile, amazing gear for warm weather hiking. I love my pants! my boyfriend showed up with a new pair for me while I was doing some extended camping in the Eagle Cap Wilderness, lucky me! Too bad my usual size seven regular was a size twelve regular before I found the right fit. My torso is of the longer variety with a high waist and these pants seem to be of the lower wasted variety wanting to ride on my hips. That being said, they are working great for me! September 10, 2012
Stylish (for a convertible pant) I like this pant because the legs are much less baggy than normal convertible pants.I had been alerted the fit was quite small so I ordered one size up. I am 5'7, 110 lbs and normally wear a size 0 or 2, but ordered a size 4. It is a little large but I think that's acceptable for a performance garment. August 31, 2012
Good pants... The pants serve me well in Afghanistan. I prefer the omnishade button convertible pant with the softer fabric and the side elastin gusset. August 12, 2012
Comes in sizes for tall women I love the pants but needed to send them back as they were just a little too small. I have ordered the next size up and hope they fit better. I love the fact the pants came in longer sizes as I have a very hard time finding pants that don't look like I'm expecting a flood. June 23, 2012
Good solution for tall women It's hard to find convertible pants in extra long, and the length on these is perfect for me. (I'm 5'11".) They are lightweight, the color is attractive, the pockets are zipped, the ankle zips are wide enough that you can remove the lower leg part without taking off your hiking shoes, and overall I am very pleased with the pants. My one complaint is that no account was taken for a taller person's need for a bit longer rise, so these hit my hipbones just a bit lower than they should, which causes the side pockets to flare out just a little and for the pants to pull across my lower hips. Not a great look. Another 1/2 inch or inch of length in the rise would have made these a perfect fit. I'm keeping them, however, and can honestly recommend them. May 14, 2012
Great pants, true to size I really like these pants, or I think I will as soon as I receive the correct size. Unfortunately, I read the reviews indicating that these pants run small and decided to order a size larger, which ended up being too large. Reordered in my normal pants size and expect them to be great. May 11, 2012
Glad I chose a different style This was the second pair of hiking pants that I bought from Columbia and I chose this style over my previous pair only because I wanted a darker pair of pants. At first I preferred the cut on the other style, but these held up much better and I was pleasantly surprised to find the adjustable waist feature. This was especially necessary since in order to get the pants to fit through the hips, they were too large in the waist. Read and trust the sizing chart. I have never in my life worn a size 14, but they fit. April 22, 2012
silver ridge convertible full leg pant My husband ordered these pants for me to wear on vacation. I have one problem in that the waistband was 3-4 inches below my waist. The link states, sits just below the waist / classic fit, regular rise. I found this to be a big problem and returned the pants. Other than that the pants are of good quality, function and fit. After reading some of the other reviews I determined to order a size 14. I am a size 12. April 19, 2012
Way too small I wear a 6 in jeans and I heard that it runs small so I ordered an 8. I could get them on, barely, but walking was close to impossible. If I order a 10, then they will have a huge gap in the waist.I am 5' 7" 135 lbs and athletically built; I don't understand why I'm having this problem with a pant made for fit/athletic people. April 18, 2012
Confused The quality seems great if I could ever get the size right. Last fall I ordered these in a size 8 and they were to big and way to long for a regular pant. So this spring I ordered what I thought was the same pants and got a size 6 in a regular and short. Well, the short was small everywhere, and the regular was to tight as well. But still really long. So, I'm alittle confused what to do now. Decided to just go with a different brand. April 16, 2012
Untested, but pleased a picky teen out of the box! Bought these for my daughter, who will be traveling to Ecuador to tour, hike, snorkel and kayak. Out of the box, my teen daughter loved these. Most light weight, performance clothing she tried was too boxy or unflattering for her tastes. She loved the slim cut and flattering fit of these. Yes, its supposed to be performance wear, but can't a girl look good out there too?We will see how they "perform" soon enough, but if they are like the Columbia clothing I use all the time and love for its fit, flattery and function, I expect great things! April 6, 2012
Recommend for women with skinny legs Nice pants but if you happen to have well-developed quads and glutes then buy them at least 2 sizes larger than you normally would. I think they're designed for skinny types. March 26, 2012
Size issue I normally wear a size 6. I had to upgrade to size 10 on this item. The fit is great and many pockets. I purchased for a South American trip next year and a European trip this year. light weight and quick drying. March 12, 2012
Great pants but order bigger I used to have an 'older model' of this pant for many years and am very happy with the qualitiy and comfort. However, the size do not really fit. Normally I am a 6 and ended up with ordering twice until size 10... !So order 1-2 numbers higher depending on your shape. The upper leg part for me is still on the tight side whereas I have room on the waist... February 20, 2012
Great for travelling This is a great pair of multi-tasking pants. Very comfortable to wear on airplanes, packs easily and can wear as shorts. I am a true size 8 and these run about one size too small - had to order a size 10. February 20, 2012
The Sizing Runs Small I ordered this style because I don't like elastic at the waistband and liked the way this style was designed for a slim fit. Usually I wear a size 4-6 and actually thought the 6 Regular would be too big but it actually fit a little too tight around the hips so I returned them for a size 8, although the length was perfect. I particularly liked this pant style because with the zipper on the outside lower part of the pants, it allows the wearer to zip off the lower portion of the pants without having to remove the hiking boots. Also, with a built in cord, the wearer can convert the pants into capris as well. I haven't received the larger size but I'm sure they will work out much better for me. I had tried on a different Columbia convertible pant style with an elastic waistband and needed a size 4/XS. I guess the styles run differently in sizing. February 12, 2012
Great fit! Jungle trekking here I come! I am fairly petite and usually cannot find pants that are small enough for me. I was thrilled that a size 2/short in these pants was a nearly perfect fit for me! I also love the dark gray color and plan to take these with me on a trip to the jungle! February 9, 2012
