Reviews

Women’s Heavyweight II Baselayer Tight is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 52.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love and warmth! Columbia's Omniheat is nothing short of magical, this time in a garment that exceeded all of my expectations. I have worn these as my base layer to hike and cycle in very frigid weather and never once did my legs feel the cold. I wear windproof tights on top for the perfect combination. The fabric of these tights is soft and comfortable -- it allows for maximum flexibility without becoming baggy.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from bad bought these and within 2 months a seam came apart! very disappointed. the waist seam came aprt so they have a hole in them. and they didnt keep me as warm as I expected. maybe for the sale price they are ok

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good base layer Could tell immediately that this would be a warm base layer. I'm 5'5" and about 140 lbs, athlete build. I typically wear a 6 in pants. I ordered a small because that's all that was left, but it fits just fine!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent baselayer I purchased this baselayer and have used it in the bitterly cold temperatures of Norway's Arctic Circle in February where temperatures are minus 17 degrees Celcius. It is excellent under jeans and the omni-heat technology works very well to keep you warm. It is comfortable and true to size as well ! I would highly recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm and comfortable Kept me warm in the snow under the Titanium pant. Not once did I feel sweaty like I do wearing normal leggings on a hike. These worked beautifully, and they were not too tight anywhere.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Base layer Love!!! Great for hunting and so comfy!!! Not uncomfortable right but just right!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm and comfortable These kept me warm and dry, as a base layer. They are just a base layer so I would recommend layering with clothing as well as an outer wind resistant layer for the full effect. Judging these based on wearing as a pair of tights as I noticed a few people doing in reviews, is not their true purpose or function.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from May be better as a mid layer These are definitely warm, which was my chief requirement as an outdoor runner in Chicago. The insulating material is somewhat metallic, however, so it's not the most comfortable thing against your skin. I wear them with a super thin base layer under them, these tights as a mid-layer, and then maybe an outer layer as well if it's bitter cold, and that has worked well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good base layer I use these for skiing, they are a good base layer. I thought the heavyweight vs midweight was going to be a little more "thick". I love the stretch, and they are very comfortable. I haven't worn them in very cold weather, but they did keep me warm in moderate cold. (This review was collected as part of a promotion.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light weight, but works ! Felt very warm at 30 degrees, with the wind howling.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Comfortable and Warm I wore these baselayer leggings in the desert on a 30 degree night under some hiking pants and they did a great job keeping me warm. They seemed a little thinner then I thought they would be since they are advertised as a heavyweight baselayer but they did great at keeping the heat in. I am 5'6" & 139 lbs and they are plenty big on me. I did not want them super tight and restrictive. They were a little long so if you are taller, they should be fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lightweight and Warm Theses tights are very comfortable, lightweight, and warm. I bought them after reading other positive reviews.
Date published: 2018-02-25
Rated 4 out of 5 by from good on sale I bought these on sale to have another warm layer around for next winter. I use as base layer for just walking outdoors when weather is -5 to 20. I only wear for under an hour at a time but these look like they would really endure for more strenuous outdoors activity. I ordered Large where I am usually a M because I didn't want them to be too tight like a different brand I have, but the Large turns out to be just a tad too loose, but for my needs they are fine. For ref I am 5' 5 and 145 lbs.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Baselayer Super warm baselayer for cold weather adventures. My only complaint is that the material for the waist elastic is a little itchy. By the end of the day, I don't usually notice it anymore, so for me, the warmth and breathability these provide outweigh the initial irritation. Definitely recommend these, plus I love the color.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from HEAVYWEIGHT II BASELAYER TIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT II BASELAYER TIGHT are perfect for cold morning, working outside this base layer kept me warm in cold weather. The base layer folds small for traveling light. I would highly recommend this product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sizing Besides the Omni-heat factor to keep you warm, I like the way they fit. They don’t strangle your waist & they have the length to cover your legs all the way down to your ankles!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good Its good for a base layer, as I have a OMNI-HEAT jacket I was expecting more, because the jacket is insanely warm (the OMNI-HEAT plus waterproof witch blocks the wind makes it perfect ), the product its very worth to be used underneath, but alone its not so powerful! Although Im very happy and would highly recommend it! (This review was collected as part of a promotion.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing product Excellent product. It kept me warm and I even sweated the temperature very low. I highly recommend this product. I bought everything with OMNI-HEAT to protect me (boots, balaclava, pants and blouse)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best base layer ever I use this base layer when snowmobiling and its the best I have ever had. Even with the wind chill it kept me warm the entire day. The quality is great. I have several items with the Omni-Heat™ Reflective material and love all of them. I would highly recommend for anyone that likes to stay warm outdoors in the winter. Do note, this item runs a bit small, consider ordering up one size if you like a roomier fit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Baselayer I confess I'm obsessed with Omni-heat and thrilled to have them as my new base layer. Why? They work to keep my own heat in and I'm toasty and warm versus cranky and cold! I ordered the medium top, up from my usual size small, so if I peel my very top layer off when I go inside, this base layer is not skin tight and fits like a normal shirt.
Date published: 2018-01-26
Rated 4 out of 5 by from reflective warm tight lower review due to haven't worn yet, very curious to see how the heat is kept in, seem lightweight

Rated 4 out of 5 by from LOVE THE COLOR I got to test out this pants at a 4 degrees weather, and I must say I was still pretty cold. Out of all my thermals, this one is my favorite because it's not baggy and sticks to your body. Make sure to layer with other warm pants. I learned these pants are perfect in a 30 degrees weather. I should also note that I'm glad I got a medium and not a large. I'm 5 ft , 142 lbs.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from IRRITATING extra tags, Miss having a pocket. Warning... Before buying any leggings from Columbia check for 2 things: 1. Does it have a pocket? I actually purchased a different style of legging from Columbia so perhaps this style does have a pocket, but much to dismay after I purchased mine, I realized too late that there is NO pocket. Where does Columbia expect me to put my key when I go power walking? 2. Where are the tags? Columbia stuck 3 tags on the front lower left hip of the leggings I purchased. When I tried them on at the store I didn't notice, but when I wore the pants in real life, I found that the tag in the front is VERY VERY IRRITATING!!! I'm about to run an 8k and there is NO WAY I'm going to wear these pants because I don't want to be distracted by these irritating tags! I'm afraid I'm going to get a rash from the way the irritate my skin. I'm afraid to cut the tag out because I think that may make it even more irritating. Argh! I don't even begin to understand the designer would put extra tags on the inside front hip of this product IN ADDITION to the normal tags in the center of the back. WHY COLUMBIA? WHY?!? I wish I could put this warning on every style of leggings that Columbia sells. People should be warned before they purchase these pants.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good but not as good as I hoped I wore these under some pants in both a 20-30 degree weather and also 10-20 degree weather. They kept me decently warm but I would recommend wearing a pant over them that has wind resistance to them because the base layer and a normal pant/jean is not good enough with wind. Overall not bad for no sweat but still warm on non windy days.
Date published: 2018-01-17
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed These are soft and comfortable and I like the way they fit. The waistband is nicely designed and lays smooth against my waist without digging into my skin. I am 5’4” about 135 pounds and the medium fit well. I was really hoping these would keep me warm during my outdoor winter walks. I wore them them as a base layer in 15 degree weather and they provided no additional warmth for me. I would return them but the return policy is only for unworn items with tags. This is a little frustrating since it would be impossible to know if they keep me warm if I haven’t worn them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful product alone or as a liner! Have enjoyed wearing OmniHeat tops & bottoms for several years. They work as advertised; are easy to wash (recommend air drying); keep their shape & last.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Functional; But Not as Warm as I wished This is not as warm as I wished it to be. However, it is comfortable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Omni Heat is amazing I found my first pair of these 2 years ago. I was SO excited to be able to order them direct. I have gained weight since then, and even though my old ones still fit really well, I ordered the next size up just in case, but I could have stayed with the first sizing; they fit true to size. They are super comfortable, and do an incredible job of keeping me warm. Tested them out in -20C wind chill this week, just under some jeans, and I never felt the cold at all. And the anti-microbial seems to work as advertised. I'll be travelling with no laundry ability, so to be able to wear them a couple of times without embarrassment is great!!! Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for chilly hikes & runs I needed a pair of running/hiking tights for early winter days and these leggings are pretty great. The fit is nice - I'm 5'5, 138 lbs, and am normally a small in workout gear but often a medium in base layers. I ordered the small and they fit great - not too tight. And they hold their shape after multiple wears. They don't stay *quite* as warm as I want them to, but do good if you're out and moving down to about 40 degrees. 30-40 they'll keep you warm enough, but your thighs will be a little cold. I imagine they'd make a pretty good base layer under another wind blocker.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from WOMEN’S HEAVYWEIGHT II BASELAYER TIGHT I love this base layer. I have had them for a year. I wear them skiing, sailing, hiking and casually with tunic tops. They are soft, lightweight, form fitting and best of all warm. (Size reference: I wear a medium. I'm 5' 8" & 140lbs)
Date published: 2017-11-29
Rated 3 out of 5 by from comfortable but not very warm I got them as I had heard they are very good for winter. I've tried them once and under my pants and I still did feel the cold while walking outside! it quickly warms up though when you get warm (go inside!) comfort and design wise they are great, light and fit and they allow easy movement. Controlling moisture is also a great feature. also, I was disappointed that the sewing around the waist was flimsy; a couple of the threads came out after one time wearing! I expected more from this product for the price! I am going to try them more in winter and I hope they will prove to be better, as I got them with the expectation that they function way better than the usual leggings! Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect base layer. Love the silver omni dots - they sure do the trick, I wear them hiking in cold weather and I stay super warm.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A tad roomy I am a fairly petite person at 5'1" with a slender frame. I was worried these would be more spandex-y, so I purchased them in a small. On the contrary, they're much less fitted than I imagined, so they're actually a little too roomy on me. If you're on the petite side and want a tight that hugs your body more to retain heat, I'd say to go down a size. Otherwise, very comfy and warm!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love this product! I get cold hives so I need to keep warm in the colder months. I love hiking and being outdoors so I have a couple pairs. I would recommend these to anyone who wants to stay warm.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Highly recommend I got these on Black Friday this year and I am so glad that I did! I usually exercise at night and they have been great for weather in the high 40s. I'm 5'6 and the medium fits fine. A little long but I just bunch it up at the ends and it's not noticeable and looks fine! Keep me warm and I am going to make them my go to for a hunting base layer next season. Awesome product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Had to purchase these online because southern states don't get shipped this kind of cold weather technology so I was worried. I took these on my mountain trip and loved them. They kept me warm on my trip. Just keep in mind they will really make you sweat if it's not cold. Best if the temperature is below 50. I highly recommend this clothing line to anyone who needs to pack warm but not bulky for their trip. Love them got a coat hat gloves scarf with the omniheat tech as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for the cold blooded I sadly anticipate the freeze every year come October... Anything 60 F and below makes my hands and feet icy to the touch. I love being outdoors, but the feeling of slowing turning into an ice cube isn't really my favorite. Last year, I bought an Omni heat jacket and LOVED it. A game changer for sure. I sized up (medium) and it is a large on me (xs/s), but I wouldn't change it for the world. This year, I realized that Columbia also sold Omni heat base layers and I decided to try. Gosh! I can't believe the difference! I'm going to get another top before I finish preparing for winter this year, but I'm so excited. I can enjoy the outdoors all year around this time. :)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great leggings I bought these to wear under warmer clothes when outside for extended periods of time in the winter. Unfortunately in Wichita, we have had a very mild winter so I can't rate them based on warmth. However, they are super comfortable and I find myself wearing them around the house for casual and comfort wear.
