Women’s Heavyweight II Baselayer Tight is rated out of 5 by 67.
Rated 2 out of 5 by misty007 from Not warm enough I needed a warm base layer for backpacking in the Smokies in January, purchased these and wore them in the Rockies to test out. They were not good as anything more than a lightweight layer. I was not at all happy with these and ended up purchasing and wearing a midweight merino wool layer which kept me warm in freezing temps, sleet and snow.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Kmoon from Love these leggings I purchased these leggings to wear for cross country skiing. I tried them out for the 1st time the other day and felt that they did the job. I wouldn’t wear them on a windy day without anything over them. I give them a 4/5 because I would have liked it if they were a little bit thicker. They are comfortable and feel like a second skin. Rated 5 out of 5 by maggie24 from My favorite cold weather running tights! These are my go-to winter tights for any outdoor activity! They keep me warm, whether I'm wearing them as a baselayer or as my only layer. I got my first pair several years ago before a trip to Alaska in March (brr). These leggings kept me nice and toasty the entire trip! I've loved them so much over the years that I just bought another pair. The "old" pair is still holding up very nicely so I'm confident my new pair will last me many years as well. Definitely a must buy! For reference, I am 5'4", 145 lbs and I bought a medium.

Rated 3 out of 5 by ashleeright from Good product, not so good customer service The product and the quality seems to be great. Make sure that you love this product and know that it will fit you because you don't get a full refund and you have to pay shipping if you have to return it. I am 5'7" and 150 and ordered a medium. The waist is way too big and would fall off if I were to exercise in it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Luvabull from Women's Heavyweight II Base Layer This item is very comfortable and works well under a pair of jeans. Keeps me warm in the winter while out camping. I have the Omni Heat base layer top and it is great as well. I also have a Omni heat coat that is the warmest jacket I have ever worn.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Amre from Where have these tights been my whole life.. If you spend any time outdoors in cold weather these tights are a must have! Omni heat in every thing I own please. The fit is true to size. A little shinier than I expected but oh so warm and all day comfort.. I will be back for more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by artemis08 from perfect fit i am 5’3” & 140lbs and usually wear a medium. I got the small upon browsing the reviews. True enough, it fits me perfectly. I just emigrated here from the tropics and was not used to the cold weather. I recently went hiking and this baselayer helped to keep me warm. I would buy another if it’s on sale. The price is just a bit much for me. Overall, if the price is not an issue, this is a great buy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by EmilyC from Awesome baselayer bottoms! These are ridiculously nice baselayers for the price. They are lined with Columbia’s heat reflective material and will definitely trap in body heat. The fit is great, the waist sits high on my hips so they don’t fall down during wear.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Kate1992 from Warm Leggings, but... These leggings are WARM, and I'm someone who's always cold. Other reviews mention needing these pants for a trip to the Arctic, but these are great for whenever the temperature drops below freezing. I'm a fan of Columbia's omni-heat fabric (I think it's fabric?) because it's warm and comfortable and keeps me from getting sweaty while hiking. I recommend these pants but with an asterisk. Sizing and quality are major questions. Size: I ordered an XS and was disappointed to find out how large they are! The XS is more appropriately a small or a medium legging. I'm five-foot-one and 108 pounds and these are baggy on me. Definitely not the fit I'm going for with a baselayer. Anyone smaller than me would not be a good fit for these pants as I barely make them work. The length is a problem but the thighs are way too loose for leggings and the end result is some unfortunate sag. In what world is this XS an extra small? I wish the XS was a true extra small or that Columbia offered an XXS option. Quality: I have concerns about the longevity of the waistband. It's not as sturdy or well-made as I would have liked or have come to expect from Columbia. The rest of the legging feels well-constructed but the waistband seems cheaply made. Overall, these are warm leggings and if size isn't an issue for you, then these will likely be perfect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Debby114 from My go-to baselayer! I have worn these baselayer tights for years! In fact, I just had to reorder a bunch because I wore and washed the elastic waist out on my old tights. I have purchased both the midweight and heavyweight styles. The midweight is perfect for those cooler days in the Spring and Fall, but I prefer the heavyweight for most days. I live in Minnesota, and these tights can be worn for three seasons. I love the Omni-heat feature on the inside of the tights that is warm against my skin. I love the slippery feel of the outside, which makes them slide easily inside any pants - jeans, sweatpants, snow pants, and even leather motorcycle riding gear. I can't say enough about these baselayer tights! :) For reference, I'm about 5'6" and 140 pounds. I like my clothes comfortable and loose, but not baggy. I machine-wash and hang dry these tights.

Rated 5 out of 5 by RainHiker from Unbelievable Performance in Unbearable Conditions While hiking through the Grand Tetons, it rained and even hailed for 4 days - and the temps dipped much lower than expected. I wore these pants for 3 days and nights under my rain pants. They kept me warm and dry, even when the nightly lows were in the 30s. They also kept me from getting overheated while hiking and still kept me dry when I broke a sweat. They also allowed me complete flexibility. Hands down, this was one of my best purchases! Also - according to the size chart, I was a large. I am a size 8/10 and typically buy mediums, so I took a chance and ordered the medium. They fit perfectly.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Haley6578 from NOT WARM I got these to replace a pair of long underwear that I had. These were no where near as warm as the pair I had from a different brand! They are so thin and do not lock in any heat. I feel like I could wear activewear leggings and still feel warmer than I would in these columbia base layer leggings.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Miles4Joy from Love and warmth! Columbia's Omniheat is nothing short of magical, this time in a garment that exceeded all of my expectations. I have worn these as my base layer to hike and cycle in very frigid weather and never once did my legs feel the cold. I wear windproof tights on top for the perfect combination. The fabric of these tights is soft and comfortable -- it allows for maximum flexibility without becoming baggy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by mlong from Good base layer Could tell immediately that this would be a warm base layer. I'm 5'5" and about 140 lbs, athlete build. I typically wear a 6 in pants. I ordered a small because that's all that was left, but it fits just fine!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Columbiafan16 from Excellent baselayer I purchased this baselayer and have used it in the bitterly cold temperatures of Norway's Arctic Circle in February where temperatures are minus 17 degrees Celcius. It is excellent under jeans and the omni-heat technology works very well to keep you warm. It is comfortable and true to size as well ! I would highly recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Lunamoon58 from Warm and comfortable These kept me warm and dry, as a base layer. They are just a base layer so I would recommend layering with clothing as well as an outer wind resistant layer for the full effect. Judging these based on wearing as a pair of tights as I noticed a few people doing in reviews, is not their true purpose or function.

Rated 4 out of 5 by ChiLisa from May be better as a mid layer These are definitely warm, which was my chief requirement as an outdoor runner in Chicago. The insulating material is somewhat metallic, however, so it's not the most comfortable thing against your skin. I wear them with a super thin base layer under them, these tights as a mid-layer, and then maybe an outer layer as well if it's bitter cold, and that has worked well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Izou75 from Good base layer I use these for skiing, they are a good base layer. I thought the heavyweight vs midweight was going to be a little more "thick". I love the stretch, and they are very comfortable. I haven't worn them in very cold weather, but they did keep me warm in moderate cold. (This review was collected as part of a promotion.)

Rated 4 out of 5 by Hikerchic from Comfortable and Warm I wore these baselayer leggings in the desert on a 30 degree night under some hiking pants and they did a great job keeping me warm. They seemed a little thinner then I thought they would be since they are advertised as a heavyweight baselayer but they did great at keeping the heat in. I am 5'6" & 139 lbs and they are plenty big on me. I did not want them super tight and restrictive. They were a little long so if you are taller, they should be fine.

Rated 4 out of 5 by LivenLearn from good on sale I bought these on sale to have another warm layer around for next winter. I use as base layer for just walking outdoors when weather is -5 to 20. I only wear for under an hour at a time but these look like they would really endure for more strenuous outdoors activity. I ordered Large where I am usually a M because I didn't want them to be too tight like a different brand I have, but the Large turns out to be just a tad too loose, but for my needs they are fine. For ref I am 5' 5 and 145 lbs.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Lauren2011 from Great Baselayer Super warm baselayer for cold weather adventures. My only complaint is that the material for the waist elastic is a little itchy. By the end of the day, I don't usually notice it anymore, so for me, the warmth and breathability these provide outweigh the initial irritation. Definitely recommend these, plus I love the color.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Judykins from The best base layer ever I use this base layer when snowmobiling and its the best I have ever had. Even with the wind chill it kept me warm the entire day. The quality is great. I have several items with the Omni-Heat™ Reflective material and love all of them. I would highly recommend for anyone that likes to stay warm outdoors in the winter. Do note, this item runs a bit small, consider ordering up one size if you like a roomier fit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Sheryl0930 from Great Baselayer I confess I'm obsessed with Omni-heat and thrilled to have them as my new base layer. Why? They work to keep my own heat in and I'm toasty and warm versus cranky and cold! I ordered the medium top, up from my usual size small, so if I peel my very top layer off when I go inside, this base layer is not skin tight and fits like a normal shirt.

Out of all my thermals, this one is my favorite because it's not baggy and sticks to your body. Make sure to layer with other warm pants. I learned these pants are perfect in a 30 degrees weather. I should also note that I'm glad I got a medium and not a large. I'm 5 ft , 142 lbs.

Rated 1 out of 5 by bb813 from IRRITATING extra tags, Miss having a pocket. Warning... Before buying any leggings from Columbia check for 2 things: 1. Does it have a pocket? I actually purchased a different style of legging from Columbia so perhaps this style does have a pocket, but much to dismay after I purchased mine, I realized too late that there is NO pocket. Where does Columbia expect me to put my key when I go power walking? 2. Where are the tags? Columbia stuck 3 tags on the front lower left hip of the leggings I purchased. When I tried them on at the store I didn't notice, but when I wore the pants in real life, I found that the tag in the front is VERY VERY IRRITATING!!! I'm about to run an 8k and there is NO WAY I'm going to wear these pants because I don't want to be distracted by these irritating tags! I'm afraid I'm going to get a rash from the way the irritate my skin. I'm afraid to cut the tag out because I think that may make it even more irritating. Argh! I don't even begin to understand the designer would put extra tags on the inside front hip of this product IN ADDITION to the normal tags in the center of the back. WHY COLUMBIA? WHY?!? I wish I could put this warning on every style of leggings that Columbia sells. People should be warned before they purchase these pants.

Rated 3 out of 5 by LilbitofTN from Good but not as good as I hoped I wore these under some pants in both a 20-30 degree weather and also 10-20 degree weather. They kept me decently warm but I would recommend wearing a pant over them that has wind resistance to them because the base layer and a normal pant/jean is not good enough with wind. Overall not bad for no sweat but still warm on non windy days.

Rated 1 out of 5 by WinterWalk from Disappointed These are soft and comfortable and I like the way they fit. The waistband is nicely designed and lays smooth against my waist without digging into my skin. I am 5’4” about 135 pounds and the medium fit well. I was really hoping these would keep me warm during my outdoor winter walks. I wore them them as a base layer in 15 degree weather and they provided no additional warmth for me. I would return them but the return policy is only for unworn items with tags. This is a little frustrating since it would be impossible to know if they keep me warm if I haven’t worn them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by PhotoLori from Omni Heat is amazing I found my first pair of these 2 years ago. I was SO excited to be able to order them direct. I have gained weight since then, and even though my old ones still fit really well, I ordered the next size up just in case, but I could have stayed with the first sizing; they fit true to size. They are super comfortable, and do an incredible job of keeping me warm. Tested them out in -20C wind chill this week, just under some jeans, and I never felt the cold at all. And the anti-microbial seems to work as advertised. I'll be travelling with no laundry ability, so to be able to wear them a couple of times without embarrassment is great!!! Rated 4 out of 5 by RCS23 from Great for chilly hikes & runs I needed a pair of running/hiking tights for early winter days and these leggings are pretty great. The fit is nice - I'm 5'5, 138 lbs, and am normally a small in workout gear but often a medium in base layers. I ordered the small and they fit great - not too tight. And they hold their shape after multiple wears. They don't stay *quite* as warm as I want them to, but do good if you're out and moving down to about 40 degrees. 30-40 they'll keep you warm enough, but your thighs will be a little cold. I imagine they'd make a pretty good base layer under another wind blocker.
